From Saturday July 6th through Sunday July 7th,the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Charlotte Summer Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Girls 13 and Under division.

Charlotte Summer Jr. Open

Andrew Gallagher of Grimesland, NC  was able to seal his victory with rounds of 77 and 71 over the weekend, making 3 birdies the last day to finish at a two-day total of 148 strokes. Marcus Kirschner of Charlotte, NC claimed runner-up honors with a total of 150 strokes, just 2 shots shy of the winner for the division. Rounding up the top three was Jake Duncan of Blacksburg, VA with a total of 155 strokes to claim solo third-place honors.

Cooper Hayes of Stanley, NC was able to seal his victory with a final round of 79 and a weekend total of 157 strokes. Hayes made 2 birdies the last day to win by an impressive margin over his closest competitor. Kirk Grace of Charlotte, NC shot a total of 174 shots and claimed runner-up honors. Rounding up our top-three was Colby Hutchens of Wilmington, NC  with a weekend total of 177strokes and claim solo third-place honors.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Charlotte Summer Jr. Open

Katelyn David of Waxhaw, NC claimed first-place honors with a total of 160 shots. David was able to seal her victory with rounds of 80 both days to win by a nine-shot margin. Amber Capote of Waxhaw, NC shot a total of 171 shots to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Brianna Orr of Waxhaw, NC with a week total of 178shots to claim third-place honors.

Brooke Tyler of Summerfield, NC  was able to seal her victory with a final round of 85 and a weekend total of 183 strokes. Brooke  made 2 birdies the last day to win by an impressive margin over her closest competitor. Sara McCaskill of Fort Mill, SC claimed runner-up honors with a weekend total of 236 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
