ChampionsGate Junior Open

From January 9th – 10th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the ChampionsGate Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys Under 10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

Boys 16-18

Zackery Coker from Orange Beach, AL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Coker brought in scores of 77 and 79 for a combined total of 156 for the weekend. Curtis Huber from Sparks, MD was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 83 and 77 for a combined total of 160. Billy Gussler from Ashland, KY and Ryan Zhao from Toronto, Canada tied for the top three honors. Gussler brought in  scores of 82 and 79 for a weekend total of 161. Zhao finished the weekend with scores of 77 and 84 for a final total of 161.

Diego Alvarez Perez from Panama, Panama was the first-place finisher this weekend. Alvarez Perez brought in scores of 86 and 77 for a combined total of 163 for the weekend. George Goff from Hinsdale, IL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 82 and 81 for a combined total of 163. Josiah Wang from Windermere, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 83 and 84 for a weekend total of 167.

Tyler Brody from Grand Blanc, MI was the first-place finisher this weekend. Brody brought in scores of 75 and 72 for a combined total of 147 for the weekend. Mihir Roperia from Cranbury, NJ was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 79 and 69 for a combined total of 148. Konner Kubica from Northville, MI, Byungchan Yoon from Davenport, FL, and Kyle Virsik from Viera, FL tied for the top three honors. Kubica brought in scores of 79 and 83 for a weekend total of 162. Yoon finished the weekend with consistant scores of 81 for a total of 162. Virsik rounded out with scores of 84 and 78 for a weekend total of 162.

Kuo finished the weekend with scores of 76 and 74 for a weekend total of 150.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
