Central New Jersey Junior Open

From September 7th and 8th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Central New Jersey Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10,  Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13.

Boys 16-18

Central New Jersey Junior Open

Benny Hagerty from Manasquan, NJ was the first-place finisher this weekend. Hagerty brought in scores of 78 and 65 for a combined total of 143 for the weekend. Hagerty also made history and set the course record. Michael Mitnick from Linwood, NJ was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 79 and 71 for a combined total of 150. Alexander Cox from Cresskill, NJ and Vladimir Dieffenbach finished the top three honors with scores of 78 and 77 for Alexander and scores of 75 and 80 for a weekend total of 155.

Boys 14-15

Central New Jersey Junior Open

Ethan Lee from Jackson, NJ was able to seal his victory by ending the weekend with scores of 74 and 82 for a combined total of 156. Matthew Normand from Lumberton, NJ was the runner up with scores of 79 and 83 for a 162 weekend total. ChristianDeussing from Solebury, PA finished the top three honors with scores of 89 and 86 for a weekend total of 175.

Andrew Liu from Clinton, NJ was the first-place finisher this weekend. Liu brought in scores of 86 and 80 with a combined score of 160. Paul Reilly from West Creek, NJ was the second-place finisher with scores of  96 and 105 for a total of 205.

Girls 14-18

Central New Jersey Junior Open

Jenelle Valera from Piscataway, NJ was the top finisher with impressive scores of 78 and 77 for a 155 weekend finish. Christina Carroll from Wilmington, DE took home the runner up title with scores of 78 and 78 for a weekend total of 156. Kayla Gutierrez from Little Egg Harbor, NJ rounded out the top three with scores of 81 and 76 for a combined total of 157.

Girls U13

Central New Jersey Junior Open

Taylor Sieg from Summit, NJ was the top finisher for the Justin Rose division with scores of 82 and 78. Her combined total for the weekend was 160 strokes. Zoey Zhu from Basking Ridge, NJ was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 88 and 91, a combined total of 179 strokes.

Boys 10 Under

Central New Jersey Junior Open

Ryan Sun from Morganville, NJ was able to seal his victory by ending the weekend with scores of 90 and 86 for a combined total of 176. John Louzan from Wilton, CT was the runner up with scores of 110 and 105 for a 215 weekend total. Joesph Louzan from Wilton, CT finished the top three honors with scores of 113 and 119 for a 232 weekend total.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
