On Saturday August 18 – Sunday August 19, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Central Florida Open in at Waldorf Astoria Golf Club in Orlando, FL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, Justin Rose Girls U13 Division, and the Bryson DeChambeau U10 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Central Florida Open

Mateo Pulcini of Rio Cuarto captured the win at the Central Florida Open in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 156. Pulcini fired a second round 76 and was able to separate from the competition to take a 7-shot victory over Echo Wu of Surrey who finished solo 2nd with a 2-day total of 163. Robby Stockard of Naples, FL finished one shot behind Wu to take 3rd place honors.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Central Florida Open

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Sebastiano Mascia of Valencia-Venezuela, FL took home first place honors this weekend by firing consistent rounds of 77-75 which accumulates to a 2-day total of 152. Runner-up honors went to Bryce Werblo of Orange City, FL shooting a 2-day total of 156. Rounding out the division was Erik Brumme from Fernandina Beach, FL rounded out the division with a third-place finish.

Ernie Els 11-13

Central Florida Open

Hanru Guo of Orlando, FL did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he went on to win his division by finishing 3 over par for the 36-hole tournament. Guo posted a final round of 70 which helped established the 7-shot victory. Behind Guo was Jiacheng Xu from Winter Garden, FL who shot rounds of 75-79 to finish solo second. Tynmon (Langting) Sun of Windermere, FL rounded out 3rd place honors by firing a final round 74 and finishing one shot behind Jiacheng Xu.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Central Florida Open

Christina Carroll from Bear, DE ended up with victory honors in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division. Carroll won the event by 8 shots over Lisbeth Espinal of Orlando, FL by firing a final round 74. Carroll shot a 2-day total of 153 while Espinal shot rounds of 80-81. Makayla Chau of Parkland, FL was able to put rounds together of 84-84 to take solo 3rd place.

Justin Rose Girls U13

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Madison Moman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL took the first-place finishing with posting a 2-day 36-hole total of 166. McKenna Murphy of Sanford, FL shot a final round 82 to claim second place honors finishing 6 shots back of Moman. Kyra Dube of Atlanta, GA rounded out a 3rd place finish finishing 5 shots back of Murphy.

It was a tight battle in the Bryson DeChambeau U10 Division where Lion Ziao Liu of Ocoee, FL defeated Graden Lomax by 1 shot over the weekend. Each player shot 78 respectively on the final day of play. Alexander Alder carded an 80 for a solo 3rd place finish.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
