Canongate Series #8 – October 14-15

On October 14th and 15h 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour made an appearance at Bentwater Golf Club in Acworth, GA.  The weather was perfect for golf all weekend with temperatures in the mid 70’s.  All of our participants persevered despite the difficulty of the course.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Canongate Series #8 – October 14-15

In the Boys 16-18 division, Jacob Sheperd of Suwanee, GA finished in the top spot with rounds of 71-75 for a total of 146.  Sheperd was tied with Jackson Schultz going into Round 2.  Sheperd completed Round 1 with 3 birdies and 13 pars and Round 2 with 1 birdie and 10 pars. Justin Gahlhoff of Atlanta, GA finished second in the division with rounds of 72-77 for a total of 149.  Third place was a two-way tie between Jordan Smith of Braselton, GA and Jackson Schultz of McDonough, GA.  Smith finished with rounds of 74-76 while Schultz finished with rounds of 71-79 both a totaling of 150.

Canongate Series #8 – October 14-15

In the Boys 14-15 division, AJ Ford of Atlanta, GA placed first with rounds of 76-77.  Ford concluded Round 1 with 3 birdies and 8 pars and Round 2 with 2 birdies and 11 pars. Second place was a two-way split between Parker Duncan of Cumming, GA and Jack Shade of Marietta, GA.  Duncan completed with rounds of 80-77 while Shade ended with 76-81.  Both competitors finished with totals of 157.

Canongate Series #8 – October 14-15

In the Boys 11-13 division, Jake Dalton of Gillsville, GA finished first with rounds of 95-95 for a total of 190.  Dalton ended Round 1 with 5 pars and Round 2 with 1 birdie and 5 pars. Bryant Vail of Acworth, GA finished second with rounds of 96-102 for a total of 198.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

In the Girls 14-18 division, Sara Im of Duluth, GA clinched her the top spot in her division; one under par with rounds of 73-72 for a total 145.  Im completed Round 1 with 3 birdies and 12 pars and Round 2 with 4 birdies and 11 pars. Second place was a three-way tie between Julia Simon of New Orleans, LA, Woo Wade of Dunwoody, GA and Ahra Ko of Suwanee, GA.  All second place finishers ended their rounds with a total of 153:  Simon (79-74), Wade (79-74), Ko (76-77).

Canongate Series #8 – October 14-15

In the Girls U13 division, Ella York of Johns Creek, GA ended the tournament in first place with rounds of 88-90 for a total of 178.  York concluded Round 1 with 1 birdie and 6 pars and Round 2 with 1 birdie and 5 pars. Steeley Southerland of Atlanta, GA placed second with rounds of 105-98 for a total of 203.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
