From Saturday July 27th through Sunday July 28th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Boston Summer Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and Justin Rose Girl 13 and Under division.
Cooper Evans of Dover, MA was able to take home first place honors after a final round 74. Evans had a total of 151 strokes for the weekend to win by a two-shot margin over his closest competitor. Quinten Faro of Franklin, MA had a first round 72 on Saturday to finish at a total of 153 strokes and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three were Jake Forbes of Newton, MA and Pete Delmonico of Newton Center with weekend totals of 156 strokes to claim tie third-place honors.
Alan Zhou of China was able to seal his victory with rounds of 79 and 74, making 5 birdies on Sunday to finish at a two-day total of 153 strokes. Jake Buch of Miami, FL claimed runner-up honors with a total of 157 shots for the weekend and a first round 76. Rounding up the top three was Ziming Qiu of China with a weekend total of 162 strokes for third place honors.
Lev Grinberg of Ukraine was able to seal his victory with a final round of 69 and a total of 141 strokes. Grinberg made 6 birdies the last day to win by an impressive margin over his closest competitor. Bill Sun of China shot a total of 184 strokes with consistent weekend rounds to claim solo runner-up honors for the division.
Maria Vallejo of Colombia claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 72 and 82 to win by a one-shot margin over her closest competitor. Vallejo shot a total of 154 strokes and made 5 birdies over the weekend to win. Amy Li of China had a weekend total of 155 shots to claim solo runner-up honors, making 2 birdies the last day. Rounding up the top three was Emma Yang of China with a weekend total of 163 shots to claim third-place for the division.
Chloe Gu of China claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 73 and 71 to win by an impressive margin over her closest competitor. Gu had a weekend total of 144 strokes with 4 birdies and an eagle the last day to win. Mami Amano of Japan had a total of 182 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors for the week, and a final round 89.
Boys 10 Under
Asher Katz of Ridgefield, CT was our lone competitor for the division, with rounds of 94 and 90 he was able to seal victory. Katz stayed consistent both days, and finished with a total of 184 shots to win.
