From January 9th – 10th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Bluffton Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, and Girls 14-18 Division.
Boys 16-18

Nolan Hawkins from Hilton Head Island, SC was the first place finisher for the weekend. Hawkins finished the weekend with scores of 73 and 76 for a combined total of 149. Jermey Edmunds from Charlotte, NC took home the runner up honors for the weekend. Edmunds shot a 77 in round 1 and 73 in round 2 for a weekend total of 150. Blake Williams from Lone Tree, CO rounded out the top three honors with scores of 72 and 80 for a total of 152.
Boys 14-15

After an intense playoff, George Barkley from Athens, GA was the first place finisher for the weekend. Barkley finished the weekend with scores of 79 and 81 for a combined total of 160. Reese Jensen from Duxbury, MA took home the runner up honors for the weekend. Jensen brought in scores of 81 and 79 for a weekend total of 160. Michael Bennett from Williamsburgh, VA and Jordan Quint from Kiawah Island, SC tied for the third place honors for the weekend. Bennett brought in scores of 85 and 83 and Quint finished with an 81 and 87 for a weekend total of 168.
Boys 11-13

For the second playoff of the day, John John Santospago from Charlotte, NC took home the first place honors for the weekend. Santospago brought in scores of 71 and 76 for a weekend total of 147. Ethan Weinberg finished in second place for the weekend. Weinberg brought in scores of 74 and 73 for a combined total of 147. Alejandrop Caraballo from Williamsburg, VA rounded out the top three honors with scores of 80 and 79 for a weekend total of 159.
Girls 14-18

Olivia Deakins from Dobbs Ferry, NY was the first place finisher for the weekend. Deakins brought in scores of 72 and 80 for a weekend total of 152. Isabella McCutchan from Franklin, TN was the runner up for the weekend. McCutchan finished the weekend with scores of 87 and 81 for a final total of 168.
Girls U13
Boys 10 Under

Landon Sloan from Bluffton, SC was the top finisher for the weekend. Sloan brought in consistent of 81 for a weekend total of 162.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
