On Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Birmingham Junior Open #1 in Oneonta, Alabama. The two-day, 36-hole tournament that took place at Limestone Springs Golf Club had a player field consisting of five divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Birmingham Junior Open #1

Dawson Garrett of Fort Payne, Alabama captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after shooting two over par (+2) in both rounds of the tournament for a total of +4 (148) on the weekend. He led the playing field with the lowest scoring average (74) and the most birdies (8). Second-place finisher, Riley Thrasher of Trinity, Alabama, finished +6 (150) and made 5 birdies. Chase Foster from Theodore, Alabama finished third this weekend with a total of +16 (160).

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Birmingham Junior Open #1

The Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division was won by Will Feagin of Mountain Brook, Alabama who shot a total 149 strokes (+5) on the weekend. He led the playing field with the lowest scoring average (74.5), the most birdies (4) and the longest birdie or better streak (2). Zach Ashley of Killen, Alabama, placed second shot a total of 160 strokes (+16). Third place finisher, Andrew Kim of Alpharetta, Georgia, had 167 strokes (+23) and made 2 birdies.

Ernie Els 11-13

Birmingham Junior Open #1

Jackson Mitchell of Athens, Georgia, took home the first-place title in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division. Mitchell had a total of 157 strokes for a +13 finish. He had a low scoring average of 78.5 and made one birdie.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Birmingham Junior Open #1

The Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division was won by Haley Blevins of Madison, Alabama. She shot 91 and 83 in rounds 1 and 2, respectively, for a two-day total of 174 strokes (+30). Blevins’ round 2 of 83 was her best round ever in the three tournaments she has played. This was Haley’s first, 1st place victory of the year following her tie for both second and twelfth earlier in the season.

Alisa Pressley of Flowery Branch, Georgia captured the first-place victory the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division with a total of 197 strokes (+53). She had the lowest scoring average (98.5) in the playing field. Second-place finisher, Isabella Warwick from Huntsville, Alabama made one birdie and shot a total of 201 strokes (+57) for the weekend.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
