On Monday, July 23 – Tuesday, July 24, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Becool Cup at Temecula Creek in Temecula, California. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament held on the Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort – Creek/Stonehouse, consisted of players from five of our divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.
Temecula native Declan Lane captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division as he completed the thirty-six holes at +7. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (75.5), the most birdies (8), and the longest birdie or better streak (4). There was a tie for second-place between Lawrence Shih (Newport) and Mikee Ordona (Upland, CA) as the each made 153 strokes to finish at +9.
Hanru Huo of Orlando, Florida was victorious this weekend in the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division after finishing the two rounds with a total of +3. He made 4 birdies and led his playing field with the lowest scoring average of 73.5. Second-place finisher was Justin Lee of Hacienda Heights who made 150 strokes for a +6 finish. Huo and Lee led their playing field with the lowest Par-3 average, each at 3.1. Orcas Island, Washington’s Burly Hildreth completed the thirty-six holes with a total of 157 strokes to result in a third-place finish at +13.
In the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Yuxuan Li of Shanghai won the first-place trophy after completing the thirty-six rounds at +1. He led his playing field with the most birdies (6), the lowest Par 3 average (3), and the lowest scoring average (72.5). Pengchang Cheng, also of Shanghai, placed second with his 158 strokes that resulted in a +14 finish. Third-place finisher was Shanghai’s Yanqi Lin who made 184 strokes through the two rounds to total +40.
Jiayang Lu of Shanghai was claimed the title in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division with her +2 total at the end of the two rounds. She made 6 birdies and led her playing field with the lowest scoring average of 73. Second-place finisher Jieni Li, also of Shanghai, completed the thirty-six holes at +5. Titita Loudtragulngam of Chonburi placed third after making 150 strokes and 9 birdies that resulted in her +6 finish.
The Justin Rose Girls U13 tournament champion was Jing Ziyi of Scottsdale who completed the thirty-six holes at +36. She led her playing field with the most birdies (2), the lowest Par 3 average (3.6), and the lowest scoring average (90). Jiayi Lin of Shanghai was just one stroke back of the title, finishing the tournament with 181 strokes for a +37 finish to secure second place.
