On Thursday, November 2, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Evans, GA to host the Augusta Junior Challenge at the beautiful Jones Creek Golf Course. The players worked really hard throughout the hilly course and a weather delay on Saturday to find sun and lower scores on Sunday.
Patrick Jean-Pierre, a local of Augusta, GA is the boys 16-18 champion. Jean-Pierre solidified the victory in his division carding a 76 Saturday and 75 Sunday for a two-day total of 151. Tying for 2nd, Drew Greene of Aiken, SC and Luke Underhill both carded a total of 161. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.
Alex Colligan of Evans, GA is the champion of the boys 14-15 division. Colligan posted the only under par round of 71 Saturday and 79 Sunday for a 150 two-day total to claim the title. AJ Ford of Atlanta, GA came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 161 (89-72). Bryan Kim and Gage Weeks tied for 3rd place after a two-day total of 163. This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.
Brady Bentley of Augusta, GA is the boys 11-13 champion shooting an 88 Saturday and a 77 Sunday for a 2 day total of 165. After a one hole playoff against Evan Prickett, Bentley claimed the title sinking a 10 foot putt for par. Coming in 2nd, Evan Prickett of North Augusta, SC, shot a strong 79 Saturday and an 86 Sunday. Coming in a close 3rd, Peter Garud posted an 87 Saturday and 82 Sunday for a total of 169. The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in overcoming its many challenges.
Michelle Cao of Duluth, GA is the girls 14-18 champion. Cao had a 79 Saturday and followed that with an 82 on Sunday for a two-day total of 161. Finishing in 2nd from Martinez, GA was Kendall Smith who posted rounds of 82 and 84 to finish with a total of 166. Claire Wickes finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 174 (86-88). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.
Boys 10 Under
Christian Haskins of Johns Island, SC took home the 1st place trophy for the boys 10U division. Haskins posted a 101 Saturday and 102 Sunday for a two day total of 203. It was all smiles on the course this weekend!
