Arizona Junior Open

From Saturday, February 23 - Sunday, February 24, 2019, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Arizona Junior Open at the Lone Tree Golf Club in Chandler, AZ. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made up of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18, Will Smith Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Girls 13 and Under Division. Boys 16-18

Arizona Junior Open

In the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, we had one junior golfer that completely crushed the course. Trey Fessler of Hanover, MN shot an unbelievable 65 on Saturday and a still very impressive 71 on Sunday to capture the first place finish. In second, also with an exceptional score was Alex Vekich of Scottsdale, AZ who shot a 71 and 73 during the weekend. Rounding out the division was Joey Geary of Phoenix, AZ who shot a two-day total of 150.

Boys 14-15

Arizona Junior Open

The Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division was secured by Arizona natives. In first place was Jack Dozer of Phoenix, AZ who shot a 76 on day one and a 72 on day two. Behind him was Nikolas Kittilson of Chandler, AZ who shot a 74 and 78 respectively. Coming in third for the division was Lucas Rutter, also of Chandler, AZ who finished his tournament with a 178.

Boys 11-13

Arizona Junior Open

The Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division was also captured by three Arizona junior golfers. Ryan Sefrioui of Scottsdale, AZ and Brady McDonough, also from Scottsdale, AZ tied for first with 153 strokes, and after a playoff round was played, Ryan came out on top. In third place was Alec Hilgers of Litchfield Park, AZ who shot a 78 on Saturday and an 80 on Sunday.

Girls 14-18

Arizona Junior Open

The Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division was a hard-fought battle for the girls. Coming in first was Mallorie Luitwieler of Katy, TX who shot a 75 and 77 for a two-day total of 152. There was a two-way tie for second place between Mika Miyata of Chandler, AZ and Shanna Schuckman of Scottsdale, AZ. Both girls finished the tournaments with 155 strokes.

Arizona Junior Open

The Justin Rose Girls U13 Division was taken over by young golfer Aubrey Hilgers of Litchfield Park, AZ. Aubrey improved her game by nine strokes on her second day to claim the top spot in the Arizona Junior Open for her age group.

The Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division was won single-handedly by none other than Zachary Berger of Remsenburg, NY. No one stood in his was as he shot an 82 and 80 respectively for a two-day total of 162 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division.
