Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

On Saturday, July 14 – Sunday, July 15, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament held at Albany consisted of players from all six of our divisions, including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

Bahamas native, Alex Valenzuela completed the tournament E to win the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division. He led his playing field with the longest birdie or better streak (3), the lowest Par 3 average (2.9), and the lowest scoring average (72). Matthew Soucinek of Lake City, Florida placed second with 145 strokes for a +1 finish. Third-place finisher, Gunnar Granito of New Canaan, Connecticut, made 153 strokes for a +9 finish through the thirty-six holes.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

Wyatt Seilkop of Suwanee, Georgia won the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division this weekend with his +16 total rounds. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (80), the most birdies (6), and the lowest Par 3 average (3.5). Second-place finisher was Dominic Greives of Bradenton, Florida who made 175 strokes that resulted in a +31 finish. Judah Lloyd of Nassau placed third at +66 with 210 strokes.

Ernie Els 11-13

Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

In the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Alex Rowland captured the title after his +18 finish. Zion Taylor of Nassau made 182 strokes for a +38 finish on the weekend. Third-place finisher Rhan Miller, also of Nassau, finished at +72 as a result of his 216 strokes through the thirty-six holes.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

Sophia Anand completed the two-day tournament at +2 to claim the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division. She led her playing field with the lowest scoring average (73) and the lowest Par 3 average (3). Second-place finisher, Alejandra Galla of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida made 148 strokes for a +4 finish through the thirty-six holes. Ashley Michel, of Nassau, secured the third-place spot after her 153 strokes allowed her to finish at +9.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

It was Tyesha Tynes of Nassau, Bahamas who was victorious in the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division as she finished the two-day tournament at +36. She led her playing field with the lowest Par 3 average (4) and the lowest scoring average (90).

Boys 10 Under

Albany, Bahamas Summer Junior Open

Jackson Harris of Powell, Ohio was the champion in the Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division this weekend as he completed the thirty-six holes with 146 strokes (+2). He led his playing field with the most birdies (5), the lowest Par 3 average (3.2), and the lowest scoring average (73). This is Jackson’s third 1st place finish, following his other five Top-3 finishes on tour this year.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
