From October 5th to the 6th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Academy Cup Series #5. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13.
Boys 16-18
Junfan Wang from China was the first-place finisher this weekend after scoring birdie in a playoff. Wang brought in scores of 71 and 70 for a combined total of 141 for the weekend. Gabriel Restrepo from Venezuela tied the runner up for the weekend with scores of 73 and 68 for a combined total of 141. Yuvraajbir from India finished tied for the runner up with scores of 71 and 70 for a weekend total of 141.
Boys 14-15
Jack Snedaker, from Lake Mary, Florida was able to seal his victory by ending the weekend with scores of 72 and 70 for a combined total of 142. Justin Bai from Lake Mary, Florida as the tied as runner up with scores of 73 and 74 for a 147 weekend total. Reggis Zhu from Winter Garden, Florida tied for runner up with scores of 70 and 77 for a weekend total of 147.
Boys 11-13

Jiacheng Zu from Winter Garden was the first-place finisher this weekend. Zu brought in scores of 75 and 72 with a combined score of 147. Davis Downing from Windermere, Florida was the second-place finisher with scores of 77 and 75 for a total of 152. To round out the top three was Justing Wen from China. Wen ended the weekend with scores of 85 and 76 for a total of 161.
Girls 14-18

Anne Yu from Champions Gate, Florida was the top finisher with impressive scores of 68 and 72 for a 140 weekend finish. One Kashima from Japan took home the runner up title with scores of 72 and 73 for a weekend total of 145. Rivekka Jumagulova from Bulgaria rounded out the top three with scores of 73 and 73 a combined total of 146.
Girls U13

Staci Pla from West Palm Beach, Florida was the top finisher for the Justin Rose division with scores of 78 and 73. Her combined total for the weekend was 151 strokes. Katie Yang from Orlando, Floirda was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 79 and 77, a combined total of 156 strokes. Taking home third place, with scores of 85 and 82 from Davenport, Florida, Arianna Leon.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
