From Saturday, May 18 – Sunday, May 19, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Academy Cup Series #2 at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, VA. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Tiger Woods Boys 16-18
Jackson Gessaman performed well on the first day of the Academy Cup Series #2 scoring a 71. Gessaman followed with a better performance on day two, scoring a 69 that allowed for him to secure a first place finish. Gavin Ganter led the pack on the first day with a score of 69 followed by a 76 on day two placing him in second. Aidan Baron finished in a close third with 146 to round out the top three finishers.
Will Smith Boys 14-15
Christopher Lee led the field from the start of the tournament with a 72 finish on the first day. Lee closed out the tournament with a 77 on day two that locked him into first place. Vijay Powell had a strong outing, finishing the tournament with a 153 to secure second place. Brody Clavel finished a close third with his stellar performance to close out the top three.
Ernie Els 11-13
Ryan Leach led the pack in the Ernie Els division from the start. Leach finished with a 74 on day one and finished with a 75 on day two to secure the top spot in his division. Ayush Bhansali finished in a close second, finishing with a total of 176 over the entire weekend.
Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18
Lauren Sims took an early lead in the Justin Timberlake division, scoring a 78 on day one and closing out day two with a 79 to secure the top spot in her division. Maddie McCulley played a stellar tournament finishing with a 167 on the weekend. Lizzie Bickar finished with a 183 to roundout the top three in the Justin Timberlake division.
Justin Rose Girls U13
Jennifer Osborne played a great tournament, finishing with a 175 for the entire weekend to lock down the first place finish in the Justin Rose division. Alina Ho trailed as a close second finishing the weekend with a 181following both rounds. Alsiha Gupta rounded out the top three in the Justin Rose Division with a 185 after both rounds.
