Academy Cup Series #1

From Saturday, April 27 – Sunday, April 28, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Academy Cup Series #1 at Timacuan Golf and Country Club in Lake Mary, FL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Boys 16-18

Academy Cup Series #1

Fredric Rousseau of Team Brunton #1 did not disappoint this weekend, as he was the champion of the Tiger Woods Division with 142 strokes. Shawn Sehra of Team Brunton #1 earned second with 152 strokes. Just two strokes behind Sehra, there was a two-way tie for third. Luc Warnock of Team Brunton #1 and Callum McKay of Team Brunton #2 each finished with 154 strokes.

Boys 14-15

Academy Cup Series #1

Ethan Irvine of Team Burton #2 ended up on top in the Will Smith Division, as he finished with 151 strokes. Tommy Chan of Team 4 earned the silver with 168 strokes. Gabe Prissert of Team Pla took the bronze with 188 strokes.

Leading off the Ernie Els Division is Ethan Keen of Team Pla with 168 strokes. Rounding out the podium is Cameron Coe of Team Pla with 189 strokes.

Girls 14-18

Academy Cup Series #1

Staying very consistent throughout the weekend allowed Jasmine Ly of Team Brunton #1 to become the winner of the Justin Timberlake Division. She finished out the weekend with 144 strokes. Ryleigh Knaub of Team 4 and Frances Melendez of Team Pla rounded out the division with 160 and 163 strokes respectively.

Academy Cup Series #1

Carmella Carlisi of Team 5 captured the top spot in the Justin Rose Division over the weekend, as she finished with 165 strokes. McKenna Murphy of Team 4 earned second with 172 strokes. Staci Pla of Team Pla captured the final spot on the podium, with 181 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division.
