On Saturday September 1 – Monday September 3, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the 54 Hole Junior Open at Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL. The tournament was made up of a 54-hole, three-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division U10, Justin Rose Division Girls U13 and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.
James Ballato of Fernandina Beach, FL captured the first-place finish at the 54 Hole Junior Open in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 3-day total of 217 (75-75-67). With solid play both days, Ballato was able to hold off Zikang Zhan of Sanford, FL by 1 shot placing Zhan in second place. Carson Caruso from Greenwell Springs, LA rounded out the division with the 3rd place finish shooting a 3-day total of 221 (76-76-69).
In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Alex Song of of Windermere, FL took home first place this weekend in shooting a 3-day total of 225. Solid play in the second round allowed Song to take victory over Andrew Ha of Windermere, FL, Brian Park of Windermere,FL, and Trevor Dozier of Atlanta,GA with a tie for 2nd place and a score of 238.
Justin Bai of Lake Mary, FL did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 72-71 to win in his division over Samuel Duran of Panama City, FL and Jackson Hiller of Vero Beach, FL who tied at 220 for the second place spot.
Jordyn Hodgson ended up with the first-place finish in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division by carding a total of 227 (75-75). With consistent rounds, Hodgson was able to hold off Rachel Carlson of Bradenton, FL by 5 shots and claiming 2nd place. Rounding out the division was Briana Gabe of Melborne, FL who shot a 3-day total of 233 to claim a 3rd place finish.
In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division Eleanor Parkerson of Boston, MA took home the victory with firing a 3-day total of 227. Sritha Vemuri followed behind with shooting a 3-day total of 250 tying with Arianna Leon of Davenport, FL also at 250.
Boys 10 Under
Graden Lomax ended up with the first-place finish in the Bryson Dechambeau Boys U10 Division by carding a total of 232 (79-76). With consistent rounds, Lomax was able to hold off Alexander Kaufman of Sarasota, FL and claiming 2nd place with a score of 233. Rounding out the division was Jeremiah Smith of Viera, FL who shot a 3-day total of 253 to claim a 3rd place finish.
