From February 18-20, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the 54 Hole Rio Pinar Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.
Boys 16-18

Davis Downing from Windermere, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Downing brought in scores of 82, 72, and 69 for a combined total of 223 for the weekend. Aaron DeWitt from Winter Haven, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 77, 71, and 75 for a combined total of 223. Downing defeated DeWitt in a playoff. Dougie Basadur from St. Catharines, Canada, Beni Long from Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Jake Portugal from Ridgefield, CT all tied to finish third this weekend. Basadur’s scores of 71, 73, and 80, Long’s scores of 72, 73, and 79, and Portugal’s scores of 75, 75, and 74 all combined and tied for a weekend total of 224.
Boys 14-15

Darren Zhou from Hong Kong, Hong Kong was the first-place finisher this weekend. Zhou brought in scores of 68, 66, and 72 for a combined total of 206 for the weekend. Yuma Nemoto from Chiba, Japan was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 74, 69, and 70 for a combined total of 213. Nicklaus Downing from Windermere, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 75, 72, and 73 for a weekend total of 220.
Boys 11-13

Jerry Guo from North York, Canada was the first-place finisher this weekend. Guo brought in scores of 82, 81, and 72 for a combined total of 235 for the weekend. Anthony Primo IV from Marlton, NJ was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 81, 79, and 79 for a combined total of 239. Eric Li from Larchmont, NY finished the top three honors with scores of 88, 79, and 80 for a weekend total of 247.
Girls 14-18

Bella Dovhey from Orlando, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Dovhey brought in scores of 69, 72, and 73 for a combined total of 214 for the weekend. Jordan Levitt from Bedford, NY was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 75, 73, and 68 for a combined total of 216. Alena Li from Okemos, MI the top three honors with scores of 75, 69, and 76 for a weekend total of 220.
Girls U13

Claudia Georgakis from Pymble, Australia was the first-place finisher this weekend. Georgakis brought in scores of 89, 92, and 79 for a combined total of 260 for the weekend. Taerin Lee from Jericho, NY was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 88, 92, and 89 for a combined total of 269.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.
Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division.
