On Thursday, August 31, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Orlando, FL to host the 54 Hole Challenge at the beautiful Shingle Creek. The players battled through a very hot weekend in Orlando, but the heat wasn’t too strong to keep us all from having some fun! The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the Shingle Creek Golf Course for their hospitality and ensuring excellent conditions for the field of play.
Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Jee Won Park of Lake Mary, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Park solidified the victory in his division by carding a 73 on Saturday, a 72 on Sunday, and a 66 on Monday for a three-day total of 211. Zubin Chandra of Singapore finished in 2nd with a three-day total of 212 (74-68-70). 3rd place was given to Alexandre Lieu who carded a three-day total of 218 (73-74-71). The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.
Will Smith Boys 14-15

James Ballato of Fernandina Beach, FL is the Boys 14-15 champion. After shooting a strong 73 on Saturday, Ballato came in even hotter on Sunday with a 68 and a final round of 70 on Monday to secure the victory finishing with a three-day total of 211. Kenneth Thu of Mandalay came in 2nd with a three-day total of 213 (79-68-66). Gabriel Restrepo of Caracas finished in 3rd place with a three-day total of 218 (77-72-69). The boys were very close for all three rounds, which made the competition even more exciting.
Ernie Els 11-13

Leo Xu of Windermere, FL is the champion of the Boys 11-13 division. Efficiency was key for Xu as he posted a round of 76 Saturday, a 76 Sunday and 75 Monday for a 227 three-day total to claim the title. Justin Bai came in 2nd after finishing with a three-day total of 228 (76-79-73). 3rd was awarded to Shawn Lalmoni who totaled 229 (78-79-72). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.
Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Tiffany Arafi of Birsfelden is the Girls 14-18 champion. Arafi had a 70 on Saturday, and followed that with a 76 on Sunday and 71 on Monday for a three-day total of 217. Finishing in 2nd from Riviera Beach, FL was Georgia Oboh who posted rounds of 77, 73 and 76 to finish with a total of 226. Anika Veintemilla of Samborondon finished in 3rd place with a three-day total of 228 (76-75-77). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.
Justin Rose Girls U13

Olivia Lu is the Girls 13 Under champion. Lu of Orlando, FL emerged victorious after posting a three-day total of 244 (83-79-82). Ariana Carvalho of Windermere, FL came in 2nd with a total of 271 (87-90-94). In 3rd was Hannah Hall of Rockledge, FL with a first round score of 105, 100 round on Sunday and final round of 102 on Monday with a total of 307.
Boys 10 Under

Phillip Dunham, of Jacksonville, FL took home the 1st place trophy for the Boys 10 Under division. Dunham ended Saturday with a score of 72. He achieved a Sunday score of 70 and a Monday score of 71 to finish with a 213. Graden Lomax finished with a three-day total of 243 (81-83-79) to come in 2nd place. Coming in 3rd in the boys 10U division was Santiago Andres Navarro Vascotto who finished with a total of 277 (100-92-85).

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
