LENOIR CITY – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at the Medalist at Avalon this past weekend from May 13-14. The 36-hole tournament was held at the Avalon Country Club.
Billy Boroughs from Chattanooga, TN placed first in the boys 16-18 division. Boroughs scored 68 and 76, made par 16 times with 10 birdies for a total score of 144. This is his fifth win in a HJGT tournament. Alex Robinson from Athens, TN places as the runner up with scores of 77 and 68 for a total of 145. Tied for top three honors are Griffin Latimer from Canton, GA and Cooper Roberts from Powell, TN. Latimer scored an 80 and 73 while Roberts scored a 75 and 78, both players totaled a score of 153.
In the boys 14-15 division, Paul Haire from Jonesborough, TN brought in scores of 74 and 76, he made par 13 times and 10 birdies and Leo Huddleston from Maryville, TN brought in scores of 77 and 73, he made par 25 times and three birdies. Both players totaled 150 and tied for first place. Lewis Niad from Oak Ridge, TN placed in the top three honors with scores of 76 and 79 for a total of 155 for the weekend.
Wick Baker from Bristol, TN placed first in the boys 11-13 division. He made par 13 times and 14 birdies, with scores of 73 and 68 his weekend total was 141. Runner up was Keegan Richardson from Athens, AL his scores of 78 and 75 gave him a total of 153. Andrew Busch from Johns Creek, GA placed in the top three honors bringing in scores of 77 and 79 for a combined total of 156.
Cadence Nance from Sharpsburg, GA brought in scores of 76 and 75, she made par 16 times with seven birdies totaling 151 for the weekend. Nance placed first in the girls 14-18 division. Last month she placed first in the Atlanta Spring Junior Open. Calley Holbert from Knoxville, TN was runner up with scores of 79 and 77 she had a combined total of 156. With scores of 80 and 77 and a weekend total of 157, Lorien Sweet from Greenback, TN placed in top three honors.
