2nd Collegiate Am event at World Golf Village
The Hurricane Collegiate Amateur Tour is proud to announce the continuation of the Hurricane Collegiate Amateur Series. The tour will head to St. Augustine, FL for the second event in the four event Collegiate Amateur Series. The World Golf Village Championship will take place June 21-22, 2012. The Hurricane Collegiate Amateur Series is comprised of four events at PGA Tour quality venues around major USGA qualifiers and championships. The tour is open to players between the ages of 18-23 which makes playing the tournaments ideal for HJGT alumni, collegiate players, 2012 grads, and any amateur player look to compete at quality venues. No tour membership is required. The tournament entry fee for each event is $235, which includes 54 holes of golf, golf cart, range balls, snacks and cold drinks on the course and a dozen of Bridgestone B330 golf balls. The World Golf Village Championship will feature 54 holes on stroke play with 36 of those holes coming on day one. The tournament will be composed of one men’s and one women’s division. The women will play yardages from 6,000-6,200 yards while the men will play anywhere from 7,000-7,200 yards. The World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) will be ranking this event, along with the remaining two Collegiate Amateur events to come on the 2012 season. The WAGR ranks the top amateur golfers in the world on the basis of their average performance in counting events over a rolling cycle of the previous 52 weeks. Visit hjgt.org for more information. The WGC Championship will take place on both of the courses the World Golf Village offers (King and Bear, Slammer and Squire). The King and Bear course is named after its co-designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. King and Bear is the first and only known course co-designed by the two golf Hall of Famers. King and Bear is rated among the top of Golf Weeks golf resort courses. Slammer and Squire is also named after its two Hall of Fame co-designers in Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen. Slammer and Squire is known for its memorable par-3’s and its overall natural beauty.
