West Texas Junior Shootout

( November 5-6, 2016 )

Wild West Duel

On Saturday, November 5, 2016, the Hurricane Junior golf Tour Traveled to Abilene, TX to host the West Texas Junior Shootout at the Diamondback Golf Club. The weather for this weekend was Chilly with a slight breeze. Saturday morning began as a foggy one, which delayed our tee times by 30 minutes. The fog began to clear out an hour into tee times with a temperature in the high 60s. Sunday morning brought a nasty storm full of dangerous lighting in the near area which lasted for several hours. Tees time times got pushed back by 3 hours, but we managed to get the final round completed. The cool temperatures prevailed until the afternoon, and then transitioned into a hot sunny day into the low 80s. Throughout the round, we experienced streaky episodes of nasty rain with a minor period of hail. The tour would like to thank Matt, Brendan and the outside operations staff for letting us host the tournament at the Diamondback Golf Club The 18 Junior golfers Dueled through the climate changing weather and proved to show no fear of stopping. This course was wide open with few hazards. The key part to this course was to hit fairways in order to be rewarded with a good chance of going low. Thank you everyone for hanging in there and toughing it out through the incliment weather and making the best of a great tournament that was provided. These junior golfers were playing for JGS rankings, top ten finisher points, first, second, and third place trophies, and an invite to the National Championship that will be held on December 3-4, 2016. See you all next year to take on this the wild west dual at Diamondback Golf Club     Boys 16-18
