TPC Sugarloaf Jr. Open
(July 26-27, 2017)
On Wednesday, July 26, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Duluth, GA to host the TPC Sugarloaf Jr. Open in Duluth, GA. The golfers fought through a hot Wednesday to find an even hotter and more humid round of golf Thursday. All players displayed true grit by finishing the rounds under the unforgiving Georgia heat. There was quite a bit at stake during this tournament with the top 3 finishers in each division receiving exemption into the 2017 National Championship. The top 10 in each division would receive points towards State Teams, All HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup.
Jack Juskow of Greenville, SC is the Boys 16-18 champion. Juskow posted a 71 on Wednesday and a 71 on Thursday to finish with a two-day total of 142. He beat out Marc Mitchell of Atlanta, GA outright to take home the prize. Mitchell, who finished with a back to back 72 was able to secure second place with his 144 total. Joey Collins of McDonough, GA came in third, posting a 75 on Wednesday and a 73 on Thursday for a 148 total. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the southeast and most golfers were able to improve on the second day. Boys 14-15
Parker Duncan of Cumming, GA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Duncan posted a 78 on Wednesday and a 72 on Thursday for a 150 two-day total to claim the title. Jack Hudson of Roswell, GA came in second after finishing with a two-day total of 151 (78-73). Ben Kalinowski of Atlanta, GA was the third place finisher after a tow-day total of 152 (78-74). The players enjoyed the course and had fun competing in their division. Boys 11-13
Billy Abdow of Duluth, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a 76 Wednesday, Abdow closed strong with a final round of 74 to secure the victory with a two-day total of 150. Chapman Barnett of Duluth, GA came in second with a total of 155 (76-79). Daniel McHugh of St. Simons Island, GA finished in third place with a total of 187 (89-98). The boys showed maturity in dealing with the course’s many challenges. Girls 14-18
Ahra Ko from Mathews, NC is the Girls 14-18 champion. Ko posted a 73 Wednesday and followed that with a steady 76 on Thursday for a two-day total of 149. Finishing in second was Meghna Grover of Duluth, GA who posted rounds of 79 to score a total of 158. Angela Deng from Marietta, GA finished in third place with a two-day total of 160 (80-80). The ladies showed excellent skill and sportsmanship all weekend long.
Ian Lambert of Jackson, MO took home the first place trophy for the Boys 10 and under division. Lambert posted an 88 Wednesday and a 93 Thursday for a two-day total of 181. Excellent job this weekend Ian, thanks for coming out and competing with us.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
