Driving to Success

  On Thursday, October 20, 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Sarasota, FL to host the TPC Prestancia Jr Shootout at the beautiful TPC Prestancia Golf Club. The HJGT would like the thank the staff at TPC Prestancia Golf Club for allowing us to host our tournament at such an amazing venue.  AJGA stars were up for grabs this weekend and the top ten golfers also received points towards year-end honors and Junior Golf Scoreboard points as well.   Boys 16-18

Callum Brown of Stuart, FL is the boys 16-18 champion. Brown used a 74 in the first round to stay close to the lead and coast to the finish of the two round tournament with a 70 on Sunday. Alan Klenor of Longboat Key, FL finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 149 (74-75).  The 3rd place trophy was awarded to Jack Ohara of Longboat Key, FL with a total of 152 (73-79). The players had a great time navigating a challenging course layout and competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.   Boys 14-15

Jim Cai is the champion of the boys 14-15 division. Consistency was key for Cai as he posted rounds of 78 and 76 for a 154 total to claim the title. Simon Haas. of Wesley Chapel, FL was the 2nd place finisher after having the first round with an opening 82 and a two-day total of 155 (82-73). Robbie Higgins of Bradenton, FL is the 3rd place finisher firing rounds of 80 and 77 to finish the tournament with a total of 157.  The players competed valiantly and all left with smiles on their faces knowing that they had competed to the best of their abilities.   Boys 11-13

Armand Loscalzo of Tampa, FL is the boys 11-13 champion. Clark started strong with a first round 77 to capture the title by five strokes, firing a two-day total of 156 (77-79). Heathcliffe Kane of Bradenton, FL posted a total of 161 (83-78) over the two rounds to finish alone in 2nd place. 3rd place goes to Yuhze Zhang of Windermere, FL who shot for a total of 163. The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in assaulting its many challenges.   Boys U10

Jake Macdonald of Sarasota, FL is the boys under 10 champion. Jake won the event posting a two-day total of 279 (137-142). Jake attacked the course with a youthful vigor that left spectators and fellow competitors impressed. Surely this will not be the last time we hear young Jake’s name in the winner’s circle at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.       Girls 14-18

Sachika Singh of Bradenton, FL is the girls 14-18 champion. Singh charged hard to the finish line Sunday starting with a 79 to give her a two round total of 159 (79-80) and the victory. Finishing in 2nd from Lakewood Ranch, FL was Sophia Warren, who posted rounds of 75 and 86 to finish with a total of 161. Cynthia Tu of Vienna, VA grabbed the 3rd place trophy with a total score of 163 (78-85). The ladies each enjoyed their experience immensely, while competing against the top competitors in the region.  Girls U13

Kokoro Ouchi is the girls 13 and under champion. Ouchi of Bradenton, FL emerged from a clustered first round leaderboard, posting a final round 81 to claim the title with a total of 163 (82-81. Finishing in 2nd with a total of 179 was Giulia Lombardo (83-96) of Bradenton, FL. Finishing in 3rd for the girls 13U is Addison Klonowski of Naples, FL who posted rounds of 96 and 93 for a total of 189. The girls displayed tremendous fortitude and acuity while trekking through the difficult course layout in the Florida heat.     Weather October 22-23, 2016   Round 1: Low 55, High 78. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13.
