Summer Classic At Eagle Creek
(July 1-2, 2017)
On Thursday, June 29th, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Lake Nona, FL to host the Summer Classic at the stunning Eagle Creek Golf Course. The players were treated to beautiful weather all weekend resulting in impressive low scoring across each age division. The golf course was in fantastic condition and the winners took advantage of the perfect conditions to win on the challenging Eagle Creek Course. Players were able to enjoy a professional standard course.
Ethan Werblo of Orange City, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Werblo started the weekend with high hopes and posted two very impressive under par rounds to take the title. Werblo fired a magnificent 69(-4), which was the days low score and helped him to a 3 shot victory. On Sunday Werblo carded 4 birdies and an eagle to shoot a two-day total of 141 (72-69). Tieliang Yang took the second place trophy, with a two-day total of 144 (75-69). Alex Whitehead of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL finished in 3 place with a two-day total of 146 (75-71) after shooting an impressive bogey free final round of -2. This division was extremely close with some wonderful scoring and all the competitors had a wonderful time on this excellent golf course. Boys 14-15
Santiago Sabogal Burgos of Weston, FL is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Burgos enjoyed his time here in Eagle Creek where he was very consistent over the weekend. After an opening round 76 (+3) he was sitting five shots off the lead. He was magnificent on day 2 making 14 pars and 4 birdies to claim a two shot victory. He finished with a two-day total of 145 (76-69) to claim the title. Austin Cherichella of Orlando, FL came in 2 after finishing with a two-day total of 147 (71-76). Braydon Brooks of Lake Mary, FL took third place after two solid rounds of 75 for a two-day total of 150. This division was extremely close with a great level of competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort. Boys 11-13
Kyle Bachkosky of Peachtree City, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. Bachkosky had an extremely impressive two rounds, which allowed him to dominate his division. Bachkosky finished with a two-day total of 142 (74-68) for a very impressive 3 shot victory. Aaron Zhang of Lake Mary, FL finished in 2 with two-day total of 145 (74-71). Finishing in a close 3 by 2 strokes was Nicolas Sabogal Burgos of Weston, FL, finishing with a two-day total of 147 (71-76). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in attacking its many challenges. Could be potential stars of the future watch out! Girls 14-18
Jennifer Jung of Orlando, FL is the Girls 14-18 champion. Jung opened with a 77 on Saturday but saved her best play for the second round. Jung fired a magnificent 72 (-1) and secured victory by winning in a play-off against Tori Bien. Jung finished with a two-day total of 149 (77-72). Finishing in 2 from Hollywood, FL was Tori Bien who posted rounds of 75 and 74 to finish with a total of 149. Sonia Mistry of Winter Garden, FL finished in 3 place with a two-day total of 150 (76-74). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch; many of their best rounds were featured on the final day.
Xiaoran Xu is the Girls 13 and under champion. Xu of Bradenton, FL emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 164 (82-82). Being very consistent and posting two rounds of 82 Xu managed to secure a 39 shot victory. Coming in 2nd place was Ava Eakins with a two-day total of 203 (99-104). Both players had a great time on the course and we look forward to them moving up the age divisions and continuing to make appearances at the top of the leader boards.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
