(July 2-3, 2016)
Racking Up The Golf Stats
On Thursday, June 30, 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Eureka, MO to host the St. Louis Junior Open at the beautiful Crescent Farms Golf Club. Saturday and Sunday had temperatures in the mid 60’s and constant rain throughout both days. The HJGT would like to thank The Crescent Farms staff for allowing us to host our St. Louis Junior Open at a great venue. AJGA Performance Stars were up for grabs this weekend, the top three winners in each age division were awarded an exemption into the 2016 National Championship in Champions Gate, FL on December 3-4th, and the top ten finishers also received points towards year-end honors. Once that first tee shot soared through the air, the golfers were ready to put their clubs to the ball and make their mark on the course.
Boys 16-18 Division

Round one started out as a close race between Austin Hoerstkamp, of Washington, MO, Regan Roy, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Nick Westrich, of Farmington, MO. Westrich was leading by 1 stroke after round 1 with Hoerstkamp and Roy were not far behind. At the end of the second round Westrich came into the club house with a great round of 74, which was two over par and put him at the top of the leader board. With a tournament score of 75-74 for a total of 149, Westrich would take the title in the boys 16-18 division.
Boys 14-15 Division

Zach Walsh, of Clarkson Valley, MO, Michael Bugyis, of Des Peres, MO, and Joe Avery, of Kirkwood, MO all had a terrific first round scores of 81, 82, and 83 respectively. With a one-stroke lead for Walsh, he and his competitors battled the course for the final round of the tournament. Overall, all top three finishers finished strong on day 2. Coming in third place, Avery finished with a score of 82 for the day giving him a total score of 165 for the tournament. Bugyis finished with a total score of 77 on the second day, coming in at a total score of 159, which was good enough for second place. Walsh finished first place with a score of 74 making his overall total 155.
Boys 11-13 Division

The winner of the boys 11-13 division was Bubba Minor, of Colombia, MO. Minor shot a 74 in the first round and was able to best that score in the second round with a 73 for a total of 147. Coming just eight strokes shy of Minor was Kal Myers of St. Louis, MO. He had a good Saturday round of 79 and ended up shooting three strokes better in second round for a total of 155 for the tournament. Both Minor and Myers had good rounds this weekend at the St. Louis Junior Open at Crescent Farms and we look forward to seeing them play again with us soon.
Girls 14-18 Division

The girls 14-18 was another great competition between the top three contestants. Avery Rea, of Carterville, IL had a solid first round finishing at 86, which was good enough for the lowest score in her age division in the first round. She followed up a good first round with another good score of 95 in the final round to finish at a total of 181 for the tournament and secure her 4stroke victory. McKenna Stumph, of Boonville, MO and Brooke Granada, of St. Louis, MO both had good tournaments. Stumph finished with a total score of 185 and Granada with a 208. This was an excellent group of girls to watch and they played well all weekend.
Girls U13

With only one young lady in the girls U13 division, Izzy Arro fought her way through the steady rain both days to shoot 96 and 95. Her final round total was 191. Izzy played great both days and we are looking forward to seeing her in many more tournaments.
