St. Louis Fall Challenge at Aberdeen

             On October 29th and 30th 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Eureka, Missouri to host the St. Louis Fall Classic at Aberdeen Golf Club. The course was full of hazards, lakes, and dry fairways. Saturday was warm weather with junior golfers competing heavily amongst each other on the course. Sunday began with a cool sunrise, and at 9:00AM, the golfers begin their quest for the championship. Winners in all four age divisions will receive an automatic bid into the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was full of chills and winds, and every junior golfer played their best to earn possible invitations into the December National Championships. The cold weeks is expected to inquire many talents as the golfers’ train and compete for major championships.

In the Girls 14-18 division, Crystal Cariveau of Waseca, MN took home the first place trophy. Cariveau shot a first round score of 86 which quickly separated her from the rest of the playing field. Her two-day total of 170 gave her the victory over Sarah Arnold who finished with a 171. Crystal Cariveau of Waseca, MN was very excited at the thought of winning this particular Hurricane Junior Golf event. All of the participants had an exciting time at Aberdeen Golf Course. Finishing with the best score, Cariveau told our tournament director that she enjoyed the course despite the cold weather and wish to continue playing in future Hurricane Junior Golf tournaments.

In the boys 16-18 division, after two outstanding rounds, Ben Tyrrell of Edwardsville, Illinois took home the first place trophy. Tyrrell shot a first round score of 77 which quickly set him apart from the rest of the playing field. His two-day total of 147 edged him to victory over Carson Postal who finished with a 149. Ben Tyrrell of Edwardsville, Illinois was joyful at the thought of winning this Hurricane Junior Golf event. It came down to the final score card which determined a winner for the 16-18 boy’s division. All of the participants had a wonderful time at Aberdeen Golf Club.  Finishing with the best score, Ben told our tournament director that he enjoyed the competitive playing field and wish to continue competing in Hurricane Junior Golf events.

In the Boys 10-13 division, Caden Cannon of O’Fallon, Illinois took home the first place trophy. Cannon shot a first round score of 79 and a second round score of 77. His two-day total of 156 edged him to victory over Landon Buckanaga who finished with a 157.

In the Boys 14-15 age division, Matthew Garside of Vadnais Heights, MN took home the first place trophy. Garside had a first round one score of 74 and a second round score of 73. Tedford tournament total was 147. Brock Winter of Stillwater, MN took home the second place trophy. Winter had a round one score of 76 and a round two score of 73. His tournament total was 149. Will Harding of Praire Village, KS took home the third place trophy. Harding had a round one score of 76 and a round two score of 76 after 18 holes. His tournament total was 152.     The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13.
