It is a true test and also eminently playable as many consider it extremely fair, spacious and interesting. Opened in 1972, the course was given a $2.5 million renovation by renowned golf architect Gene Bates. The “new” IMG Academy Golf Club reopened in 2003 as the region’s most playable, scenic and technically advanced golf course. The renovation is highlighted by a spectacular island green for hole 10 and an all-around new course feel. The grass, TifEagle, is a state-of-the-art hybrid developed specifically for southern courses. The renovation project also included replacement of the irrigation-drainage system with additional lush landscaping and revamped sand traps. The course provides a rewarding golf experience at every level.
