South Georgia Jr. Classic October 5-6

Jekyll Island GC

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is excited to make a return trip to Jekyll Island, Georgia for the South Georgia Junior Classic on October 5-6. Players will want to sign up quickly considering the event will be held at the beautiful Indian Mound golf course. The top competitor from both the Boys 15-18 age division as well as the Girls 15-18 age division will likely be awarded four AJGA performance stars, while the Boys 11-14 will be awarded one performance star if the field requirements are met, which will provide one exemption into an AJGA event. Additional incentive is that the event will be ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, South Carolina Junior Golf Association, and Tarheel Youth Golf Association. Winners of each of the four age divisions (Boys 11-14, 15-18 & Girls 11-14, 15-18) will receive an automatic bid into the 2013 tour championship and the top 10 finishers receive points towards year end honors including the inaugural Hurricane Cup. The format for the tournament will consist of 36-hole stroke play, with a double tee start on both Saturday and Sunday. Registration will begin at 7:00AM on Saturday and players will begin teeing off at 8:00AM both days. As previously mentioned there will be four age divisions. Registration for members is $179 and the non-member fee is $199. For membership information please refer to our website (www.hjgt.org/basic-membership/) Joe Lee, in 1975, mapped out this new 18-hole challenge. With his trademark fairway bunkers situated in precarious locations, Indian Mound plays through some of Jekyll Island's most pristine woodlands showing off what Jekyll Island's nature has to offer.
