Providence Golf Club has a unique history. The original course located on the Pocoshock Creek property was closed in 1985. A new development team purchased the property and an adjacent parcel of land. The additional acreage hosts six new holes while the area of the "original" Pocoshock layout now hosting longer, more spacious holes with a new driving range and short game practice facility. Virginia's own Lester George, one of the leading golf course architects in the world was chosen to help Providence become a "Phoenix"rising from the ashes, thus the Providence logo. George designer of Kinloch Golf Club, the highest ranked golf course in the history of Virginia, used his creative design and unique ability to create Providence in 2002. His creative design combined with our excellent conditioning and service allowed us to receive a 4 1/2 star rating from Golf Digest. The highest rating offered any club in Virginia.
