Each hole here is dramatically different, with surprises at every bunker and dogleg. It makes you feel like you’re on a peaceful mountainside, with great views of the stately pines and lazy, winding river. There is no better place for a great game of Neuse golf. Play it and you’ll see why Golf Digest named The Neuse “The Best New Public Golf Course in North Carolina.” In addition, our Clayton golf course received a 4-1/2 star rating for places to play in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Additionally in 2002, Business Week honored The Neuse with the distinction of being the second-best public-access course to entertain business clients in North Carolina. This is an outstanding award as we finished second to the world-famous Pinehurst No. 2. Raleigh Jr. Shootout
