Come from behind win for Talbott
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour made the postseason trip to Woodstock, Georgia when they hosted the Postseason at Bradshaw farms on November 23-24. This postseason tournament was open to all junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 and was ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. Junior golfers were able to play the beautiful Bradshaw Farms while battling cold weather and wind. An invitation to the HJGT’s 2013 Tour Championship was awarded to winners in all four divisions, as well as South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points and Tarheel Youth Golf Association Points. In addition, winners also received a $50 gift card courtesy of Kikkor Golf.
In the Boys 15-18 Division, S.M. Lee from Buford, Georgia held off Jake Milanowski from Peachtree City, Georgia by 2 strokes to win at the Bradshaw Farm Golf Club. Lee had a 3-stroke lead over Milanowski going into the final round, but had his lead cut to only 1 stroke after 27 total holes. Milanowski eventually took the lead after back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11. Lee tied it back up after birdieing the 13th hole. Milanowski bogeyed and double-bogeyed holes 14 and 15, respectively, to give Lee a 3 stroke lead with only 3 holes left to play. Nickolaus Budd from Woodstock, Georgia rounded out the top three by shooting rounds of 76 and 76, including an eagle on the 16th hole on Sunday to propel him onto the podium with a total of +8/152.
Melanie Talbott from Woodstock, Georgia came from behind to win the postseason tournament at the Bradshaw Farm Golf Club in her hometown. Talbott trailed Madison Blackburn out of Canton, Georgia by a stroke going into the final round. Talbott had 2 birdies, 7 pars and only 3 bogeys over the last 12 holes Sunday afternoon. Talbott led the division with a 4.8 average on Par 4 holes. Blackburn finished the tournament with 3 birdies and 16 pars with rounds of 84 and 87 to finish in 2nd place. Rounding out the top 3 in the Girls 15-18 Division was 12-year-old Rachel Kuehn from Ashville, North Carolina. Kuehn shot an 89 on Saturday and improved with an 85 on Sunday for a total of +30/174.
The Boys 11-14 champion, Andy Mao from Johns Creek, Georgia made a lot of memories at the Postseason tournament at Bradshaw Farm this past weekend. Mao scored a double eagle on the 11th hole on Saturday with a 230-yard shot with his 3 wood. The ball was later autographed by the other players in his pairing. Mao also won the EFX Birdie Challenge after making all 3 of his birdies in the final round. His title did not come easy as Stephen Foernsler from Cumming, Georgia had a 2-stroke lead going into Sunday’s round. Foernsler and Mao were tied up after 11 holes on Sunday and had identical scores for the last 7 holes, except on hole 14 where Mao bogeyed and Foernsler double bogeyed. Foernsler had 2 pars and 20 birdies throughout the weekend. Andrew Mora from Douglasville, Georgia earned a 3rd place trophy with scores of 86 and 83 for a total of +25 for the tournament.
