  On Thursday, April 6, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Freeport, Pennsylvania to host the Pittsburgh Junior Challenge at the beautiful Birdsfoot Golf Club. The weather improved throughout the weekend with highs in the 70s on Sunday. The HJGT would like to thank the staff at Birdsfoot Golf Club for allowing us to host our tournament at such an amazing venue.  AJGA stars where up for grabs this weekend and the top ten golfers also received points towards year-end honors. The players eagerly attacked this challenging course and had a great time participating in the tournament.   Boys 16-18 Division

Brian Terlesky of Youngstown, OH is the Boys 16-18 champion. Peng used a 75 in the first round to grab the early lead and coast to the finish of the two round tournament at 153 (75-78). Ryan Peters of Saegertown, PA finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 155 (81-74).  The 3rd place trophy was awarded to Jack Kremer of Wexford, PA with a total of 157 (83-74). The players had a great time navigating the links-style course layout and competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.   Boys 14-15 Division  Carson Ba

cha of York, PA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 Division. Running away with the title, he posted a 71 and 72 for a 143 total. Justin Hand of Ellwood City, PA was the 2nd place finisher after having the first round with an opening 78 and a two-day total of 151 (78-73). Jeremy Summerson of Victor, NY is the 3rd place finisher with a two-day total of 154 (78-76).  The players played with high spirits and enjoyed playing together during the second round.     Boys 11-13 Division

Alexander Maloy of Potomac, MD was the only one to compete in the Boys 11-13 division. Even though he was the only one in his division, Alexander did not coast through the event. His scores on both days were 86 to finish strong with a 172. Alexander had a great time participating in the tournament.       Girls 14-18 Division

Ally Steffen of Armonk, NY is the Girls 14-18 champion. Steffen attacked the course to finish the tournament with a two round total of 157 (80-77) and the victory. Finishing in 2nd from Uniontown, PA was Danae Rugola, who posted rounds of 80 and 79 to finish with a total of 159. Third place went to Christina Lewis, who finished with a 160 (79-81). The ladies loved playing the course and competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
