The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Comes to Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Jr. Challenge is set for April 9-10
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) invites you to play in the Pittsburgh Junior Challenge! This event will be held on April 9-10 at Birdsfoot Golf Club in Freeport, Pa. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to play in our first event of the year in Pennsylvania! This event is a two-day, 36-hole event. Both rounds will begin with a single tee start from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Registration for members is $195 and $245 for non-members. The Pittsburgh Junior Challenge is open to all golfers between the ages of 8-18. The event will have Junior Golf Scoreboard Ranking (JGS), American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) stars, winners in each division will receive an invitation to the 2016 Tour Championship on Dec. 3-4, top three in each division will receive an invitation to the 2016 Mid Season Invitational at Chateau Elan on June 11-13, and top-10 finishers receive points towards year end honors which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
American Junior Golf Association
- This event has guaranteed AJGA stars for the following divisions: Girls 14-18 Champion = 4 Performance Stars, Girls 14-18 Top 3 = 1 Performance Star
- If a division is not listed above as guaranteed AJGA stars and the event meets the minimum requirements for any age division, we will submit for consideration. The minimums are as follows: Boys 14-15/Boys 16-18 = 40 players, Boys 11-13 = 20 players, Girls 13U = six players
Junior Golf Scoreboard
- Ranking available for any division in which five or more competitors complete at least a 36-hole event.
Course Information
Birdsfoot Golf Club features links-style holes on the front nine and transitions into more of a parkland style track on the back nine. The name Birdsfoot derives from the birdsfoot trefoil, a small yellow flower in abundance on site. Yardages for this event are as follows: Boys 10U: 5,020; Girls 13U: 5,076; Boys 11-13/Girls 14-18: 5,812; Boys 14-15/Boys 16-18: 6,750.
