Philadelphia Summer Shootout
(July 11 – 12, 2017)
On Sunday, July 9th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Lower Makefield, PA to hold the Philadelphia Summer Shootout hosted by the Makefield Highlands Golf Club. Our field fought through a sweltering round on Tuesday, followed by an equally hot set of holes on Wednesday, keeping their composure all the while. Top finishers in the Girls 14 – 18 division rewarded AJGA stars for winning or finishing in the top three. The HJGT would like to thank the wonderful staff members and administrators of Makefield Highlands Golf Club for their hospitality and providing such wonderful playing conditions for our field. Overall, a fantastic week of golf was had with intense competition from some of the nation’s best junior golfers. Boys 16-18

Alec Ryden is the Boys 16-18 champion. The Moorestown, NJ native took home the division by holding off the competition by one stroke. Our division champion posted a 72 on Tuesday and a 77 on Wednesday for a two-day total of 149 in route to a victory. Brent Schoeller finished in second with a two-day total of 150 (77 – 73). Will Nocito of Sewickley, PA (78 – 73), Liam Hart of Holland, PA (77 – 74), and Kyle Quagliero split third place honors between them with a two-day score of 151. This division was tightly contested and truly made their mark on Makefield Highlands Golf Club. Boys 14-15

Cole Ekert is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Ekert kept his cool through the heat to finish the tournament and take the division with a commanding margin. The victor, from Chatham, NJ, posted rounds of 76 and 75 for a two-day total of 151. Robbie Herzig of New York, New York took home the second place trophy after finishing with a two-day total of 163 (83 – 80). Third place was taken home by Cade McLaughlin of Princeton, NJ who posted a two-day score of 166 (84 – 82). The Boys 14-15 division saw some fantastic competition that gave the entire field of spectators and HJGT staff a fantastic show over the week. Girls 14-18

Julia McLaughlin of Princeton, NJ is the Girls 14-18 champion. McLaughlin paired a 77 Tuesday with a division low 73 Wednesday for a two-day total of 150 to edge out the competition and take the Girls 14-18 division. Finishing in second from Laurel Springs, NJ was Taylor Oberparleiter who posted rounds of 77 and 82 for a two-day total of 159. Kara Kniezewski of Blue Bell, PA took home third place with a two-day total of 161 (82 – 79). This division played fantastic golf keeping spectators and staff captivated throughout the week. Girls Under 13

Victoria Kim is the Girls under 13 champion. Kim of West Chester, PA emerged victorious after posting a 76 on the first day of competition and rounded out the tournament with an 84. This netted Kim a score of 160 and a champion trophy. Finishing second was Brooke Oberparleiter of Laurel Springs, NJ posting a two-day total of 167 (84 – 83). Third place was taken home by Ellison Lundquist of Furlong, PA who posted a two-day total of 169 (86 – 83). It was great to see such excellent golf from some of golfs future emails

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
