Driving to Success

  On Thursday, March 2, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Lake Mary, FL to host the Orlando Jr Shootout at the beautiful Timacuan Golf Club. The weather would not keep the players down as high winds was forecasted for both days in the afternoon. The HJGT would like to thank the staff at Timacuan Golf Club for allowing us to host our tournament at such an amazing venue.  AJGA stars where up for grabs this weekend and the top ten golfers also received points towards year-end honors. With great enthusiasm the players forged onward to success against the unyielding forces of nature and challenging course layout.   Boys 16-18 Division

Alex Hu of Lake Mary, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Hu shot a decent 77 in the first round to stay in the competition and finished strong in round two of the tournament with a total 146 (77-69). Kim Kang of Howey in the hills, FL finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 150 (70-80). The 3rd place trophy was awarded to Christopher Vandette of Beaconsfield with a total of 153 (74-79). The players had a great time navigating a challenging course layout and competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.     Boys 14-15 Division

Hiroshi Tai of Howey in the Hills, FL is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Hiroshi won the age division as he posted a two round total of 154 to claim the title. Egor Zotov of Howey in the Hills, FL was the 2nd place finisher after shooting a two-day total of 161 (79-82). Mark Noonan of Vernon Hills, FL is the 3rd place finisher with a score of 80 and 82 for a total 162.  The players competed valiantly and all left with smiles on their faces knowing that they had competed to the best of their abilities.   Boys 11-13 Division

Aaron Zhang is the Boys 11-13 champion. Zhang shot an impressive 69 in the first round and a two-day total of 145 (69-76). LJ Daly II of Lake Mary, FL posted a total of 151 (76-75) over the two rounds to finish alone in 2nd place. 3rd place goes to Anthony Chen of Wesley Chapel, FL who shot for a total of 156 (75-81). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in assaulting its many challenges.   Boys 10 Under Division

Diego Alvarez Perez of Miami, FL is the Boys under 10 champion. Alvarez Perez won the event posting a two-day total of 167 (87-80).  Alexander Kaufman of Sarasota, FL came in 2nd place shooting an 88 in the final round and finished with a total of 178 (90-88). The 3rd place trophy was awarded to Ferguson McLeod of Bradenton, FL with a total of 185 (94-91). These young men attacked the course with a youthful vigor that left spectators and fellow competitors impressed. Surely this will not be the last time we hear these young men names in the winner’s circle at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.   Girls 14-18 Division

Jennifer Jung of Orlando is the Girls 14-18 champion. Jung charged hard to the finish line Sunday closing with a 75 to give her a two round total of 152 (77-75) and the victory. Finishing in 2nd from Longwood, FL was Jennifer Zhou, who posted rounds of 76 and 77 to finish with a total of 153. There was a tie for third between Anika Veintemilla (75-79) and Maria Beatriz Arizaga (76-78) both from Samborondon, GY with a total of 154. The ladies each enjoyed their experience immensely, while competing against the top competitors in the region.   Girls 13 Under Division

Sophie Anand is the Girls 13 and under champion. Sophie Anand of Albany, Bahamas posted a score of 189 (91-98). Sophie displayed tremendous fortitude and acuity while trekking through the difficult course layout in the high Florida winds.
