Ohio Summer Classic
(June 28-29, 2017)
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio for the Ohio Summer Classic. There was a wide array of players from around the Midwest competing in this tournament. The players were treated to beautiful weather for the duration of the tournament. Each of our winners will receive an invitation to our Tour Championship at the end of the year, and players finishing in the top ten will receive points towards the Hurricane Cup in their respective division. Boys 16-18
The Boys 16-18 division consisted of a great field all looking to take the top spot. Our champion this week at the Ohio Summer Classic was Cole Corder of Powell, Ohio. Cole shot back to back rounds of 75 for a 150 total. After trailing going into the final round, Cole was able to record three birdies on the front nine to put him in contention and ultimately win the event. This is Cole’s third HJGT victory of the year. Ben Gleichauf of North Olmsted, Ohio finished in second after shooting 73-81 for a 154 total. Ben had the low round of the tournament when he shot an opening round 73. Rounding out the top three was Mitchill Reasoner of Marion, Ohio who recorded rounds of 78-79 for a 157 overall. All of these boys put on a show for spectators and the staff alike. Boys 14-15
The Boys 14-15 age division came down to the wire and had to be settled in a playoff. Connor Warns of Avon Lake, Ohio took home the victory after a one hole playoff against Hayden Mitchell of Plain City, Ohio. Connor shot 84-88 for a 172 total. Coming into the final round trailing, Connor capitalized at key moments in his round to secure the come from behind victory. Hayden Mitchell took home the second place trophy after shooting 81-91 for a 172 overall. In third place was AJ Wilkin of Cambridge, Ohio who shot 99-89 for a 188 total. These boys showed tremendous fortitude while attacking a difficult course. Girls 14-18
Just like in both boy’s divisions, the Girls 14-18 champion won in a come from behind effort. Priyasha Kota of Powell, Ohio took home the victory after shooting 86-78 for an overall 164. Priyasha’s consistent play in her final round was key to her four stroke victory. Ashley Flynn of Dublin, Ohio was able to hang on to second place by shooting 82-86 for a 168 total. Rounding out the top three spots was Erin Korn of Powell, Ohio who shot 85-84 for an overall 169 respectively. These girls showed their skill and sportsmanship playing on this beautiful course.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
