Posting the most impressive rounds of the month for the Boys 15-18 division was Thirawat Chantrakantanond of Bangkok. Chantrakantanond won the Jekyll Island Jr. Open on April 12-13. He fired an even par 72 during the first round to place him just behind the leaders. On Sunday he was able to come from behind and post a bogey free round that led him to the victory. On this day, he posted an impressive four under, 68 including four birdies. Chantrakantanond had seven birdies in the tournament, the most in the division. His two day score of 140 was four strokes better than the remainder of the field. His incredibly low scores warranted Chantrakantanond NYX Player of the Month for April in the Boys 15-18 division. Coming from behind to steal the win away in the Girls 15-18 division at the Orange Lake Jr. Open on April 26-27 was Adeena Shears of Elizabeth, West Virginia. Shears had a two day total of 145 which was the lowest amongst her division for the month of April. By firing a 70, one under par on Sunday, she edged out the victory by five strokes. After trailing on Saturday, Shears fought back with three of her five total birdies and 13 of her 25 total pars to make the only under par round for anyone in her division. Not only did Shears pull out the win by improving her round one score of 75, but she also improved the most out of both Girls’ divisions by lowering her score by five strokes from Saturday to Sunday. The two consistently low rounds posted by Shears merited her NYX Player of the Month for April in the Girls 15-18 division. Taking the title again of NYX Player of the Month in the Boys 11-14 division is David Giandomenico of Lake Mary, Florida. He was able to finish under par at the Southwest Florida Jr. Challenge on April 12-13. He was able to secure the top spot on the leaderboard in the Boys 11-14 division with a weekend total of 139, 11 strokes better than the rest of the field. His first round score of 68 was the lowest of the tournament in all divisions and it featured six birdies, three on each nine. On Sunday, Giandomencio carded a 71 with four birdies and finished with the most birdies in the division. Giandomenico’s remarkable five under par finish awarded him the NYX Player of the Month for April in the Boys 11-14 division. Nancy Lian of Lake Mary, Florida is the Girls 11-14 NYX April Player of the Month. She won the Girls 11-14 division at the Orange Lake Jr. Open on April 26-27. She was able to battle back to show her true skills to take the win. Lian bested an extremely tough field of competitors. After being down by one stroke coming into Sunday, Lian posted five birdies and 10 pars in her final round on Sunday to finish with a 70 on the day and a weekend total of 143. Adding that to her four birdies, nine pars and score of 73 from the first round was enough to place her atop the leaderboard for her division. Lian birdied the first and last hole of regulation on Sunday to secure the win. Her impressively low rounds granted her NYX April Player of the Month.
