The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will be heading to Lorton, VA when they host the Northern Virginia Jr. Open. This will be the first time that the HJGT will be in Virginia. Laurel Hill Golf Club is serving as the host venue for this tournament. The course was home to the US  Amateur Public Links Championship last July. This tournament is open to all junior golfers between the ages of 11-18. Being played at the scenic Laurel Hill Golf Club, this tournament has a lot up for grabs. The champion in each division will win AJGA Performance Stars if their respective field size requirements are met. National Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings will be awarded at this event. Winners in each division will receive an automatic bid into the HJGT 2014 Tour Championship and Mid-Season Invitational. Additionally, the top ten finishers will receive points towards year end honors which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup. Northern Virginia Junior Open will be a two day, 36-hole, stroke play event. The first round will begin on Saturday with a single tee start running from 10AM-1PM. The second round, on Sunday, will also be a single tee start with times ranging from 8AM-11AM. The registration fee is $189 for members and $219 for non-members. For 2014 membership information please refer to our website. Laurel Hill Golf Club is one of the newest and most beautiful courses in the area. Designer Bill Love, whose credits include the Iron Forge Course at Penn National and Hunting Hawk in Glenn Allen, Virginia, has created an impressive 18-hole course on land that formerly housed the D.C. Department of Corrections facility at Lorton. Paying homage to the early architects of American golf, Love's objective was to let the natural beauty of the property dictate the character of the course. By all accounts he has succeeded with the golf press already describing the course with accolades like one-of-a-kind and visually stunning.
