Northern Alabama Junior Shootout

Muscles Out at Muscle Shoals
On Saturday, July 23, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Muscle Shoals, AL to host the Northern Alabama Junior Shootout at the beautiful Shoals – Schoolmaster Course. It was a hot weekend, but luckily we beat out the storms. The HJGT would like to thank The Shoals staff for allowing us to host our tournament at a terrific venue. Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings were up for grabs this weekend. Once the golfers got going, they were ready to compete and make their mark on the course.
Boys 16-18 Division
Cody Argade of Deatsville, AL was the champion of the Boys 16-18 division. Argade was able to stay in front of the competition with a 72 the first round and a 73 the second. Matt Smith of Athens, AL was right behind Cody coming in second with a 148 for the tournament. The third place trophy was awarded to Ethan Dendy of Chattanooga, TN with an 83 the first. He then followed up his first round with a blazing 67 in the second round. The boys fought the whole weekend through the hot weather. They all had an amazing experience and a great weekend.
Boys 14-15 Division
Luke Smith of Covington, TN was crowned champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Smith sealed the victory with a 72 in the first round and a 73 in the second round. Hayden Blair from Tullahoma, TN brought home the second place trophy with a strong 151 total. Dawson Farni of Saraland, AL came in third right behind Blair with a 153 total. All the boys were very friendly and competitive throughout the tournament. It was a great weekend for all involved.
Girls 14-18 Division
Emma Caroline Phillips of Brentwood, TN was awarded first place after a playoff hole with Carson McKie of Hoover, AL. They each finished 36 holes at 161 total. Phillips bested McKie after 1 playoff hole with a par. Sydney Garber of Fate, TX came in third right behind Phillips and McKie with a 162 total. These girls were all very close in talent and were back and forth all weekend. They all had fun and were very friendly with each other.
Boys 11-13 Division
Evan Reed of Shelbyville, TN took home first place with a 75 in the first round and an impressive 71 in the second round. JJ Zimmer of Humboldt, TN took home second with a 75 in the first round and a 73 in the second round close behind Reed. Nicklaus Cook from Enterprise, AL followed up in third with a 172 total. Evan Reed had the best round of the tournament with a 71. All of the golfers had a blast this weekend and loved the tournament.
Girls U13 Division
Sierra Fink of Peachtree City, GA took home first in the Girls U13 Division with a 176 total. Reagan Malone finished in second with a 191 total. They were very good competitors and friendly to everyone throughout the weekend.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
