Northern Alabama Junior Shootout
(July 22-23, 2017)
On Thursday, July 20th, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Muscle Shoals, AL to host the Junior Shootout at the stunning Muscle Shoals, Schoolmaster Golf Course. The players were treated to beautiful weather all weekend resulting in impressive low scoring across each age division. The golf course was in fantastic condition and the winners took advantage of the perfect conditions to win on the challenging Schoolmaster Course. Players were treated to a professional standard course.
Riley Thrasher of Trinity, AL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Thrasher started the weekend with high hopes and posted two very impressive rounds with his first being under par. Thrasher fired a magnificent 70 (-2), which gave him the lead after round one. On Sunday Thrasher carded 2 birdies and 9 straight par’s on his final nine for a two-day total of 144 (70,74). Josh Floyd of Nolensville, TN took the second place trophy, with a two-day total of 149 (76-73). Connor Utley of Hampton Cove, AL finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 146 (79-75). This division was extremely close with some wonderful scoring and all the competitors had a wonderful time on this excellent golf course. Boys 14-15
Teagan Miller of Huntsville, AL is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Miller enjoyed his time here in Muscle Shoals where he was very consistent over the weekend. After an opening round 73 (+1) he was sitting tied for the lead. He was magnificent on day 2 making 16 pars to claim a two shot victory. He finished with a two-day total of 148 (73-75) to claim the title. Will Klecka of Huntsville, AL came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 150 (73-77). Justin Olive of Florence, AL took third place after solid rounds of 84 and 87 for a two-day total of 171. This division was extremely close with a great level of competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort. Boys 11-13
Charles Warren of Huntsville, AL is the Boys 11-13 champion. Warren had an extremely impressive two rounds, which allowed him to dominate his division. Warren finished with a two-day total of 147 (75-72) for a very impressive 6 shot victory. Will Jones of Alpharetta, GA finished in 2nd with two-day total of 153 (77-76). Finishing in a close 3rd by 4 strokes was Nicklaus Cook of Enterprise, AL finishing with a two-day total of 157 (80-77). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in assaulting its many challenges. Could be potential stars of the future watch out! Girls 14-18
Victoria England of Oakland, TN is the Girls 14-18 champion. England opened with a 73 on Saturday but saved her best play for the second round. England fired a magnificent 65 (-7) and secured victory by 14 strokes. In this 65 England carded 8 birdies. England finished with a two-day total of 138 (73-65). Finishing in 2nd from Hampton Cove, AL was Sarah Utley who posted rounds of 75 and 77 to finish with a total of 152. Mariah Moon of LaQuinta, CA and Savannah Johnson of Hampton Cove, AL finished tied for 3rd place with a two-day total of 153. The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch; many of the best round was featured on the final day.
Elle Webber is the Girls 13 and under champion. Webber of Huntsville, AL emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 175 (90-85). Elle Webber was paired with older girls in both rounds and showed maturity above her years, which will stand her in good shape for coming years. Elle really enjoyed this tournament and we look forward to seeing her in future tournaments. Boys U10 Laird Williams is the Boys U10 champion. Williams from Franklin, TN was very consistent during his two rounds. Shooting scores of 99 and 96 for a two-day total of 195. Laird really enjoyed his time on the course and we look forward to seeing him in the future.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
