Evans, GA (May 13, 2012) – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Kikkor Golf Series at Bartram Trail this weekend at the Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans, GA.  The tournament consisted of over 90 players in competition. Players came from all over the southeast and numerous golf academies to compete in this weekend’s tournament. States and countries that were represented this weekend  were Scotland, Mexico, Spain, South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Florida, Canada, New Jersey, Tennessee, Connecticut, North Carolina, Nigeria, Chile, and Japan. Widespread rain threatened play on Sunday, but players were able to finish even under these challenging circumstances. In the Boys 15-18 Division, the winner was decided by extremely close play between four of the weekends`s top contenders. Carter Mobley of Waynesboro,GA, took home the first place trophy. Mobley posted a two day total score of 145 (75+70). Mobley managed to post a total of eight birdies on the weekend with four coming in each round. Mobley’s impressive play on Sunday accompanied by his -2 score in the second round, proved to be the factors that helped get him the first place trophy. There was a tie for second place between Matthew Smith of Wantagh, NY, and Sam Odi of Augusta, GA. Smith posted a two day total score of 146 (72+74). Smith had four dissapointing bogeys in his second round to take him out of contention for first place, but he did manage to birdie holes 16 and 17 to secure a tie for second place. Odi also posted a two day total score of 146 (71+75). Odi had a total of four birdies in his first round to post a -1 score, and he also managed to pull off an eagle in his second round on hole number 12 which was a par 5.

 The Girls 15-18 Division also saw close play this weekend. The winner of the division was Taylor Dodson of Aiken, SC. Dodson posted a two day total score of 150 (77+73). Dodson also had the most birdies with a total of five, the best par four performance average (3.75), and the most par breakers (13.9%). Second place was taken by Anita Uwadia of Lagos, Nigeria. Uwadia posted a two day total score of 153 (76+77). Uwadia also managed to pull of an impressive eagle on the par five hole number four, and she had a total of three birdies on the weekend. Coming in at third was Momo Sakuragi of Tokyo, Japan. Sakuragi posted a two day total score of 154 (79+75). Sakuragi also led the field in multiple categories to accompany her third place including the best par 3 performance average (3.10), and the most pars (25).

The Boys 11-14 Division winner was taken by none other than Hunter Dunagan of Martinez, GA. Dunagan has placed first in multiple HJGT tournaments this season, and it was no surprise to see him win again this weekend at Bartram Trail. Dunagan posted a two day total score of -1 (70+73). Along with his first place trophy, Dunagan had the most birdies (10), the most par breakers (27.8%), best par four performance average (3.88), and the most pars or better (80.6%). The second place trophy was taken by States Fort of Evans, GA. Fort posted a two day total score of 146 (73+73). Fort had a total of seven birdies, the most pars (21), and the best par 5 performance average (4.70). Third place was taken by Caleb Proveaux of Leesville, SC. Proveaux posted a two day total score of 153 (76+77).

In the Girls 11-14 Division, the  first place trophy was won by Ragan Bailey of Waynesboro, GA. Bailey posted a two day total score of 158 (82+76). Bailey had the most birdies in her division with a total of four, the best par 3 performance average (3.30), and the best par 4 performance average (4.50). Second place was taken by Layne-Marie Carter of Lyons, GA. Carter posted a two day total score of 163 (83+80). Carter had the most pars (23), the best par 5 performance average (5.00),and the most pars or better (66.7%). Coming in at third was Nicole Latka of Roswell, GA. Latka posted a two day total score of 168 (93+75).

About Us:

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 15-18, 11-14 and Girls 15-18 and 11-14. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the southeast, with stops in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
