Mid Season Invitational at Sea Island

(June 11-13, 2017)

  On Thursday, June 8th, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to St. Simmons Island, GA to host the Mid Season Invitational at Sea Island. The players endured a high of 83 degrees while playing through some heavy rain which resulted in a few delays. Aside from the unfavorable golf conditions, players stepped up to the challenging tracks of The Plantation and Sea Palms and gave it their all, posting some impressive scores. All in all, it was an excellent weekend with some excellent golf   

 Boys 16-18

Boys 16-18 Sea Island

Jackson Singletary, from Alabaster, AL was the winner of the Boys 16-18 division. Jackson demonstrated his craft by shooting three very impressive rounds. He shot a 69 in the 1st round, a 69 in the 2nd round, and a 73 in the final round for a three day total of 211. Coming in second was Tyler Pham from Pembroke Pines, FL. He shot a first round 75, a second round 72, and in the final round he shot a 72 for a three day total of 219. Third place was awarded to Guxin Chen from Bradenton, FL. He shot a 74 in the 1st round, a 75 in the 2nd round, and a 72 the third and final round for a total of 221. These boys truly put on a show for spectators with three rounds of spectacular golf.     

Boys 14-15

Boys 14-15 Sea Island

The podium for the Boys 14-15 age division was swept by Florida residents. James Ballato from Fernandina Beach, FL took home 1st place by putting up great scores in three straight rounds. He shot a 76 in the first round, a 71 in the second round, and a 74 in the final round for a total of 221. Patrick McCann from Tallahassee, Florida showed great consistency in his 2nd place finish in this division. He shot a 75 in the first round, a 76 in the second round, and a 76 in the final round for a three day total of 226. The third place finisher from this age division was Camden Waldt, from Wellington, FL. He shot a 80 in the first round, a 78 in the 2nd round, and a 71 in the final round for a three day total of 229. These boys did an excellent job conquering a very difficult course.     Boys 11-13

Boys 11-13 Sea Island

The Boys 11-13 Champion was Reed Lotter of Savannah, GA. He shot an impressive 72 first round, a 73 second round, and a 71 third round for a total of 216. Jackson Hill brought back the second place trophy back home to Madisonville, KY with a 73 first round, 75 second round, and a 73 third round for a three day total of 221. Third place went to Nicholas Piesen from Strongsville, OH. He shot a 77 first round, 77 second round, and a 72 final round for a total of 226. These boys were able to show that hard work pays off while they attacked a very difficult course with confidence.       Girls 14-18

Girls 14-18 Sea Island

Abbey Schimpf, from Daniel Island, SC took home the title of Champion for the Midseason Invitational. She shot three impressive round with a 74 first round, an 80 in the 2nd round, and a 73 in the final round for a total of 227 over the course of the three day event. Second place went to Olivia Hickson, from Brunswick, GA. She shot a 77 first round, a 79 second round, and a 73 in the final round for a total of 229. Third place went to Ji Woo Shin from Bradenton, FL. She shot an 75 in the first round , an 82 in the second round, and a final round score of 77 for a three day total of 234. These girls did not disappoint and demonstrated some incredible golf over the three day tournament.        Girls U13

Girls U13 Sea island

The winner of the U13 Girls was Kokoro Ouchi, from Bradenton, FL. Kokoro showed that consistency is key as she shot a 72 all three days, totaling a dominating 216 for the tournament. Second place went to Victoria Matthews, from Great Falls, VA. She shot a 72 first round, a 75 second round, and a 78 in the final round for a total of 225. Third place went to Mary Miller, from Savannah, GA. She shot a 74 first round, a 78 in the 2nd round, and a 73 in the final round for a three day total of 225 to win her division. These girls showed tremendous efforts and toughness as they conquered this difficult course.     Boys U10

Boys 10u Sea Island

The Boys 10U division Champion was Jack Roberts from St. Marys, GA. He shot a very impressive 69 first round, a 82 second round, and then came back to shoot 70 on the final round for a three day total of 221 to win the tournament. Second place went to Gavin Fleming, from Jacksonville, FL. Gavin fell just one stroke short of being crowned champion. He shot a 73 first round, a 78 second round, and a final round score of 71 for a three day total of 222. Third Place went to Chenqi Wu from Bradenton, FL. He shot a 79 in the first round, a 75 in the second round, and a 70 in the final round for a three-day total of 224. These boys showed maturity beyond their years as they                                                                           attacked the courses many challenges.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
