McCormick Woods Junior Masters
April 8th & 9th, 2017
On Thursday, April 5th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour arrived in Seattle, WA to host the McCormick Woods Junior Masters, which took place at the McCormick Woods Golf Club. Ten junior golfers arrived early on Saturday morning ready to battle the Pacific Northwest weather and the very difficult course. The tournament consisted of three divisions: Boys 14-18, Girls 14-18, Boys 14-15 and Boys Under 10. The entire tournament field was battle tested against a course that contained 6 plus inches of rough. Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings were on the line for the Boys 14-18 division. Boys 14-18 Division The Boys 14

-15 Division consisted of six golfers, who were ready to take on a very challenging course, given the conditions. Mats Lund came in first place and did so by posting rounds of 80 and 74, for a total of 154. Mats was able to keep the ball in the fairway the entire weekend and stay out of the punishing hazards that McCormick Woods contains. Mats was also putting very well, a combination for a great weekend. Coming in second place was Beau Fenton, who posted round of 83 and 73, for a total of 156. Beau made this match close the second day thanks to his strong start, he birdied two of the first three holes. Taking the third place trophy was Danny Smith, who shot a 92 on the first day, but followed that up with an 80 the second day! His improvement of 12 strokes was the greatest of the tournament and it secured his third place trophy. We would like to thank all the competitors in this division for playing with us this weekend and we hope to see them soon! Girls 14-18 Division

The Girls 14-18 Division had two junior golfers who came out and competed this weekend. Both golfers were ready to put their games to the test against the unfavorable weather conditions and course. The ladies played well through the harsh weather and were fun to watch. Coming in first place was Annie Hay, who had rounds of 80 and 85. This total of 165 earned her a first place trophy and an invitation to our National Championship in Orlando this December! Annie displayed tremendous amount of power off the tee and used her draw to her advantage. She shortened many holes with the ability to cut corners and put the ball in the fairway. Coming in second place was Sierra Hopper who posted rounds of 98 and 89. Sierra was fun to watch the entire weekend and her short game was spot on the second day! We would like to thank Annie and Sierra for playing with us this weekend and we wish them the best of luck in their future tournaments! Boys 10U Division

The Boys 10 and Under division had two young golfers and they were a blast to watch on the course! Coming in first place was Jeff Seong, who had rounds of 84 and 74. This was another impressive improvement and Jeff was happy with his first place finish! Jeff birdied the final two holes, which not only sealed this tournament victory, but also helped earn Jeff an invitation to our National Championship this December in Orlando, FL! Jeff is a very well rounded player, he can drive the ball long and straight, as well as put chips and putts very close to the hole. Coming in second place was Floyd Villanueva, who had consistent rounds of 92 and 93. Floyd is a promising young golfer that has a lot of talent and we hope to see him play with us again! We would like to thank both golfers for participating with us!
