Maryland Summer Classic July 8-9th

The Maryland Summer Classic at the Lake Presidential Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, MD on July 8th and 9th, tested the limits of our golfers. The tournament was a two-day, 36-hole tournament. The weather was in the upper 80’s with light drizzle during Wednesday’s second round.

MD B 15-18

Boys 15-18 Age Division The Boys 15-18 division was a closely contested tournament from the start all the way till the end. Patrick Hardy, of Ellicott City, MD had two consistent rounds of 78 (+6) and 77 (+5) for a two-day total of 155 (+11) to take home the title. Hardy’s two rounds were extremely impressive considering an unfriendly course that yielded an 84.9 scoring average for the field and unfavorable weather conditions. Jamie Agnew of Fairfax, VA finished two strokes behind in second place with an 81 (+9) and 76 (+4) totaling a 157 (+13) for the tournament, followed by a tie for third place between Brett Loy of Stephens City, VA and Jared Swick of Gaithersburg, MD. Although, he didn't place in the top three, Mike Pasqualini turned in an impressive six birdies during the tournament, including four in round two, which were the most in the field.

MD B 11-14

Boys 11-14 Age Division Although the field of boys 11-14 was small, the competition was still plenty. Max Coutsolioutsos, from Lakewood Ranch in Florida, pulled away from the competition in first place with a round 1 score of 80 (+8) and round 2 score of 79 (+7) with a final score of 159 (+15). This was a great win for Max after finishing fourth last month in Orlando, FL at the Dr. Bob Winters “Mistake Free Golf” Junior Classic. Coming in second place for the tournament, Jack Hoel, had a round 1 score of 86 (+14) and a round 2 score of 88 (+16) with a final score of 174 (+30). Coming in third place of the tournament was Edward Coffren , whose round 1 score was an 83 (+11) and round 2 score of 93, with his final score being 176 (+32). Max Coutsolioutsos led the field with 3 birdies throughout the entire tournament. The average score of the Boy’s 11-14 division was an 84.76 during the two days of the tournament.

MD G 15-18

Girls 15-18 Age Division Marissa Kirkwood of New Castle, Pennsylvania outlasted her competitors in the Girls 15-18 division at Lake Presidential through the two days of competition. Kirkwood ended up winning by two strokes with an 86 the first round, then an impressive 80 in the second round to take home first place. Just behind her was Hanna Jia out of Potomac, Maryland with a great comeback round on day two with a 76. After a 92 the first round, she turned it around and took what she learned about the course the first day to improve by 16 strokes and grab second place. Hanna also had the most birdies in the field with three. Amanda Conner, out of Irwin, Pennsylvania finished in third place with scores of 90-83-173 (+11). The course played just as challenging for the girls with the average score of 88.9 over the two-day event.
