The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) is excited to offer you another opportunity to play at another Major Championship! One of our final Majors for 2014, The Major Championship at Myrtle Beach National is located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.This an excellent opportunity for junior golfers to compete with great players at an incredible venue, for high stakes. Our Major Championships offer players the opportunity to earn more Hurricane Cup Points than at any other event. Also unique to Major Championships is the opportunity to emulate your favorite professional golfers, by electing to use a caddie! This is the one and only Major Championship event we will be hosting in South Carolina for 2014, so don’t miss out on the chance to compete with the best!
The Major Championship at Myrtle Beach National is open to all golfers between the ages of 11-18. High stakes at this event deliver, as 1st place finishers will earn up to 2000 points! Participants have the opportunity to earn South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points (SCJGA) and Tarheel Youth Golf Association Points (TYGA). Also at stake are the all important Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings (JGS) and AJGA Performance Stars if the respective field sizes are met within each age division. First place finishers in each division will receive an automatic bid to the 2014 Tour Championship, December 6th-7th, and top 20 finishers receive points toward year end honors, including state teams, ALL HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
This Major is a two-day 36 hole event. The event begins Saturday, September 27th with a first round double tee running from 12:20PM-2:20PM. The second round begins Sunday, September 28th with a double tee start running from 7:30AM-9:30AM. The registration fee for HJGT members is $185 and $215 for non-members.
Rated 4.5 stars in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” Guide in 2010, West Course at Myrtle Beach National is carved through secluded Carolina pines that provide golfers with the backdrop of nature. Its traditional layout and design offers wide fairways and large Mini Verde Bermuda grass greens that make for an enjoyable golf experience for players of all abilities.
Conveniently located off of Hwy. 501 in the heart of Myrtle Beach, West Course shares a common trait with its big brother, King’s North, in that it accentuates the natural setting with no housing in sight. The course includes open fairways and greens that, while open in front, are sloped heavily from back to front. All the par-4s play under 400 yards from the middle-back tees, and par-5s are all possible to reach in two, all playing under 500 yards.
The West Course finishes uniquely with a lengthy par-3 that features water running down the entire left-hand side.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, and Pennsylvania.
