The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is making an important stop in the Tarheel State on September 21-22 in Locust, NC. The Major Championship in Charlotte will be the HJGT’s first major championship of the 2013 schedule. The tournament will be hosted by the Red Bridge Golf Club. The event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. Winners in the boys 15-18, boys 11-14, and the girls 15-18 will earn AJGA Performance Stars to be used toward exemptions into AJGA events as long as the field requirements are met. Winners in all four divisions receive an invite to the HJGT’s 2013 Tour Championship. Top 20 finishers will receive considerably more points than a standard HJGT event that go towards all end of the year honors. Those include All-HJGT teams, state teams, and points for the Hurricane Cup. With this being a major championship, players in all divisions will be allowed to use a caddie. The Major Championship in Charlotte will be a 36 hole stroke play event with registration starting at 7:00AM on Saturday, September 21st, leading to a single tee start from 8:00AM-11:00AM. Sunday will begin with a single tee from 8:00AM-11:00AM. Registration fees are $179 for HJGT members and $199 for non-members. For membership information please refer to our website(www.hjgt.org/basic-membership/). Breathtakingly beautiful and sometimes heartbreakingly challenging is the slogan for Red Bridge Golf Club. Sculpted by architect, David Postlethwait, this course is over 6,800 yards long with subtle, but distinct topography changes.
