The first ever Major Championship in Ohio is set to take place the weekend of May 4-5. The host course will be The Phoenix Golf Links, located in Grove City Ohio. Grove City is a suburb of the capital city, Columbus. With a rich history and ample attractions Grove City is an ideal HJGT venue. The event has prestigious rankings from Junior Golf Scoreboard, one of the top ranking systems for junior golfers. Players will be eligible to earn AJGA performance stars which provide exemptions into American Junior Golf Association events. The boy’s and girl’s 15-18 Champion will earn 4 stars, enough for one exemption. The boy’s 11-14 champion will earn 1 star. The minimum field size must be met in each age division to attain eligibility for performance stars (Boy’s 15-18 = 40, Girl’s 15-18 = 12, Boy’s 11-14 = 20). Seeing this is a Major Championship players WILL be allowed to use caddies for the event. The top 20 finishers will receive points and points will be considerably more than a standard HJGT event. Points will count toward state teams, all HJGT teams, and the inaugural Hurricane Cup. The event will consist of 36 holes over 2 days, 18 per day. The format will be single tee stroke play. Registration will run from 8:00AM-11:00AM on Saturday and tee times will span from 9:00AM-12:00PM Saturday & Sunday. The awards ceremony will take place around 5:00PM Sunday where top 3 finishers will receive trophies. In addition the most improved player from each division will earn a set of golf pride grips and the player with the most birdies in each division will earn an EFX bracelet. The host course will be Phoenix Golf Links. The course features great views of the Columbus skyline. Bent grass spans from tees, fairways, and greens. Coupled with 80 bunkers Phoenix Links will certainly pose a challenge to each player. Known for its typically breezy conditions players have described the course as being analogous to the Scottish coast.

About us: The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 15-18 and Girls 11-14.
