On June 4th and 5th 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to the Louisville, Kentucky to host the Major Championship at Persimmon Ridge on the Persimmon Ridge Golf Course. The course proved to be very challenging for the competitors. Saturday called for rain, but it held off until the last few holes. Sunday was warm and the wind posed a threat. Winners in all six age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was unbeatable all around, and the top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
Boys 16-18 Division

In the boys 16-18 division, Cooper Parks from Campbellsville, KY brought in two impressive scores to receive the first place trophy. Parks brought in a round one score of 74. He fought against the wind in round two to come out even on the day at 72. Parks had a total of 146 and 9 birdies for the tournament. Second place went to Michael Barnard of Gallatin, TN. Barnard came in day one with a 2 over score of 74. He brought in a second day score of 76 to give him a total of 150, with 7 birdies in the tournament. Hayden Zimmerer of Louisville, KY came in third place. Zimmerer had a first day score of 80. He cut off three strokes the second day for a 77 and a total of 157. Overall, the boys 16-18 age division was very competitive this weekend, and all of our top finishers played impressive golf.
Boys 14-15 Division

In the boys 14-15 age division, Evan Owan of Germantown, MD took home the first place trophy. Owan came in day one with an 81. He came in day two with an 82, giving him a total of 163 for the tournament. Second place went to Chase Claymeir of Evansville, IN. Claymeir had a day one score of 79 with 2 birdies. He brought in a second day score of 88 to give him a total of 167. Benton Williams of Louisville, KY took home the third place trophy. Williams had a first day score of 78 with 3 birdies. He had a second day score of 94 to give him a tournament total of 172. Overall, theses players played their hearts out and gave it their all during the tournament.
Boys 11-13 Division

In the boys 11-13 age division, Cayden Pope of Lexington, KY received the first place trophy. Pope had a day one score of 75. He brought in a second day score of 84 for a total of 159. Pope had 4 birdies in the tournament. The second place trophy went to Armand Loscalzo of Tampa, FL. Loscalzo had a first day score of 77 with 4 birdies. He brought in a second day score of 86 for a total of 163 and 5 birdies in the tournament. Third place went to Matthew Troutman of Louisville, KY with a total of 166. Troutman had a first day total of 80 and a second day total of 86. He had 5 birdies in the tournament. Overall, this age division showed they weren´t afraid to compete, and everyone performed well.
Girls 14 -18 Division

In the girls 14-18 division, Madison Smith of Union, KY took home the first place trophy. Smith had a first day score of 81. Smith took off 4 strokes the second day for a score of 77. She had a total of 158. Second place went to Annie Paris of Brentwood, TN. Paris started strong with a 79 in day one. Paris brought in a day two score of 91 for a total score of 170. Ryan Bender of Louisville, KY received third place. Bender brought in an 86 for day one and an 85 for day two. Bender finished with a total of 171 for the tournament. All of the girls came to play and kept it a competitive tournament. Each of our top finishers played some extraordinary golf this weekend on a relatively difficult course. We applaud each and every one of their efforts in this round of competition.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, California, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Louisiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and more.
