Major Championship at Blue Heron

Battle for the Major
On Thursday September 22, 2016, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Egg Harbor Township, NJ to host the Major Championship at Blue Heron. The weather had that fall feeling, as Saturday was overcast and very breezy. But Sunday the sun came out as temperatures rose into the middle 70’s. HJGT would like to thank the staff at Blue Heron as they were fantastic. They were very friendly and approachable which made our jobs easier. Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings were up for grabs this weekend as 54 players were fighting for their respective division title. The competition was tight, and the players did not disappoint.
Boys 16-18 Division
Hayden Rousselle of Doylestown, Pennsylvania was the Champion of the Boys 16-18 Division with rounds of 72,76 (+4). William O’Neill of Morristown, New Jersey came in second place with rounds of 76 and 77 (+(9). Rounding out the top 3 was William Mitchell of Moorestown, New Jersey with rounds of 79 and 78 (+13).
Boys 14-15 Division
Brandon Cho of Suwanne, Georgia was the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. He was very dominant from start to finish both days. Cho shot rounds of 71 and 74 (+1). Finishing second was Matt Karrat of Chatham New Jersey with rounds of 78 and 77 (+11). Finishing third was Matthew Monastero from Leesburg, Virginia. Monastero shot rounds of 78 and 86 (+20).
Boys 11-13 Division
Cole Ekert of Chatham, New Jersey was the Boys 11-13 division champion. Cole’s performance down the stretch was very impressive with rounds of 76 and 78 (+10). Coming in second place was Bach Ngo of Frederick, Maryland. Bach shot rounds of 83 and 76 (+15). Coming in third was Matt Messenger of Moorestown, New Jersey with rounds of 78 and 82 (+16).
Boys U10 Division
Dane LaFollette of New York, New York was our lone Boys U10 division player. Dane played well in his own right with rounds of 111 and 121 (+88).
Girls 14-18 Division
Rylie Heflin of Avondale, Pennsylvania was the champion of the Girls 14-18 division. She was in a battle with Phoebe all weekend to take home the big prize. Rylie shot rounds of 71 and 74 (+1). Phoebe Brinker of Wilmington, Delaware finished second with an excellent performance. She shot rounds of 73 and 75 (+4). Christine Shao of Greenbrook, New Jersey finished in third after firing rounds of 78 and 74 (+8).
Girls U13 Division
Zoey Cho of Suwanee, Georgia was the Girls U13 division champion. Zoey shot confidently with rounds of 84 and 88 (+28). Sammie Dolce of Florham Park, NJ finished second with rounds of 95, and 82 (+33). Finishing in third was Nicole Criscone of Clifton Park, New York with rounds of 91 and 94 (+41).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
