Kelly Tan, originally from Johor, Malaysia, began playing golf at the age of 12 and credits her parents for influencing her career. Tan played in several HJGT events and earned her spot in the 2011 HJGT Tour Championship. She gave an impressive showing and came in 2nd place at the event in Champions Gate, FL. with two rounds of 1 over par 73 to finish the tournament at +2. As an amateur, Tan was a three-time winner of the Malaysian Ladies Open. She finished T13 at the Final Qualifying Tournament to earn the Priority List Category 12 for the 2014 LPGA Tour season. Kelly turned professional instantly after the final round. As a professional, her most successful tournament was the Marathon Classic, Presented by Owens Corning, where she finished tied for 4th with rounds of 68, 70, 68, and 67 for a total of -11 and a score of 273. Her official earnings as an LPGA Professional exceed $88,000 to date. Some of her interests outside of golf include volleyball, playing guitar, and shopping. She speaks three different languages and her favorite club in her bag is the driver. The strongest aspects of her game are controlling her emotions and focus, developments she credits to her early experiences with the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.
